We’ve all been told being a lawyer is a stressful job. Do you agree? What is the source of your stress? Opposing counsel? Clients? Supervisor? Billables? Something else?
Weighing whether to practice in Raleigh or try to go to DC or NYC. Wondering if anyone can highlight the pros/cons of the city life and the legal market.

Trying to learn more about crypto. Is it still a thing? Becoming more of a thing? Any experts here that can share basics or info on where to educate myself?
I was working with a partner on drafting a brief, who hated the way I wrote it, made me drastically change everything, increase the word count and spill my blood, sweat, and tears for months into editing it. Just before filing a different partner took a hand at cutting it down because it was too long - and he edited the brief back to the way I wrote it originally 🤦🏽♀️ Sometimes this job is an absolute joke.
The projections I’ve seen for M&A activity this year are betting on a 50% recession. This is not going to end well for us deal people
Looking for feedback on doc management systems. Worldox or iManage? Or something else? Approx. 100 attorneys in firm.
Any time a Republican pretends to care about 'law and order', don't believe them. They want crimes for their guy, and law and order for everyone else.
Posting this in another bowl as well - what's the best way y'all do your expenses (personal)? Just download credit card transactions and put them all in excel? Or use any app? Want to get better at financial planning, which I know starts with knowing how it is today!
As freelancers, should we be concerned about California’s AB5 labor law? I’ve been trying to make sense of things might change. Will 1099 work just dry up?
Wondering if people have more news about this RN and APC getting extra pay while physicians are getting pay cuts.
I have some real estate investments that are coming up in DC. I have been working with a few small to mid level developers which allows for both an interest and equity return (factors vary).
Interviewed somewhere I was excited about last Monday, recruiter said she’d get back to me on Friday but didn’t. Should I assume I didn’t get a second interview? I can’t stop thinking about it.
How’s compensation for IB compare between NY and Chicago/other cities? Given COL difference, aren’t you paid “more” outside of NYC?
Is anyone familiar with AlixPartners and willing to share insights into the firm and their own experience? Specifically curious about their FAS/Investigations, Disputes, and Risk practice but also overall firm culture, pros and cons, etc. Thanks!
As absurd as it sounds, Delta and SPG feel like very good friends... Anyone else have irrational emotional connections to their travel companies?
Has anyone experienced prenatal depression? I’m 10 weeks pregnant with my 2nd (I have a 1.5 yo) - I’ve always been a very happy person, so these new emotions have hit me like a ton of bricks. Pregnancy has been very easy, no sickness, no side effects. Just the nonstop crying and feeling overwhelmed no matter what. I have a lot of love and support so I feel stupid falling apart.
I just started my first full time job. Naturally I have no savings or any liquid cash outside of some investments in my Roth. Does it make sense to not contribute to my 401k for now until I get my liquid cash needs met? Basically I’m wondering if I should stick to my plan of strict cash flows from Gross Income -> Net income, or be more flexible bc of my low tax bracket and accrue my liquid cash to my personally sufficient needs? From there then I start contributing to a 401k? Thanks!
