I'm a junior on an in house team and I have a pretty specialized background. However, sometimes I'm not brought in on matters with my background and my boss is stressing on how to handle something and only till it boils over am I brought in at the last minute to clean things up. What took her a month to figure out takes me a few hours to do. How do I express that I wish to be brought in on these things when they happen before they explode?
How to deal with being blindsided by case manager? Context: I rolled off a case (and burned a few bridges) to work on a case with this manager who promised that I’d have a high visibility role in the team, which will help make my case for promotion. However, these promises haven’t been kept and I have been relegated to constantly playing a support role for other people. Even when I try to own my workstream it gets delegated to other people. I feel trapped and not sure how to go about this....

How much stock do you put on benefits? I have two offers with stark differences in benefits. Job 1: role I want, but benefit sucks (2 weeks paternity leave, 20% coinsurance). Job 2: role is okay but higher level and great benefits (16 weeks paternity, 0% coinsurance, 5 more days of vacation). Total comp is the same though. I wonder if I should just focus on role but Job 2 is a large company, so I can move around after 2-3 years I’d expect. Thoughts?

I really want to get a puppy given WFH currently, but nervous about pulling the trigger given that we are likely returning to travel at some point in 2021. I’m single and live by myself, so worried about what the pups lifestyle would look like if I returned to travel 1-3 days a week (knowing that 3-days per week is certainly not fair to the dog). How have others thought about this? I’ve raised 4 dogs growing up, so I’m well aware of what it takes from a training / attention standpoint.
