Happy (zoom) Passover for everyone celebrating!
So other than money (which is obviously very important) what’s the incentive to make partner? Is it crazy that I just want to do my work and go home to my amazing family without the added pressure of running a business and managing others? I’m only a third year (in a new practice area) so maybe the thought of being competent enough to ever be a partner just seems unrealistic. 🤷🏼♀️
I’m currently working at a law firm in San Diego specializing in coastal property rights as a litigation paralegal and legal assistant. We received a minute order from a preliminary injunction hearing. Our client was ordered to post an injunction bond of $2,500. First our client walked to the courthouse to try to pay the bond up front, but they would not accept his money. He tried to call several bond companies, but all said the amount was too small. So how do you post an injunction bond?
Based on some of the ominous posts/articles about firms going back to stealth layoffs, should I be weary about lateraling to BigLaw in a non-corporate practice area?
When drafting an MSJ is it better to address the ways that OC might overcome it; or is it better to just generally say why you’re entitled to MSJ and avoid tackling the finer issues that your MSJ presents?
Any thoughts on family law as a practice area? Got offered 110k plus bonuses with low billable hours requirement. I'm in Los Angeles. Not sure if I should get into it as a practice area though as I hear conflicting things. Any thoughts would help. Thanks

I want to apply for a certain employer so I asked my friend who used to work there if he knew if there were job openings. He asked his former colleague and my friend was informed that they did have a vacancy and that I could send my CV to one of their bosses there and gave also me the email address. How should I word the email on how I got the person's email address? Or should I not mention it at all and just introduce myself and attach my CV?
I have worked in the HR space for the past 9 years, however most of my experience has been in Talent Acquisition. I do want to move into a People Operations/Generalist role. I’m planning to go for a HR certificate but unsure if I should go for a PHR or SHRM. Please advise!
Is it normal/fine to confirm with a partner the language in a paragraph in a document prior to sending out to a client if you are not 100% sure it is correct? I’m in capital markets and securities and often times am unsure of what to include/how to word, particularly for private offerings. The answer seems to be obvious (yes) but I am a year and a half into traditional practice with prior adjacent experience and don’t want to be seen as not confident or that I am not progressing.

Hi everyone! I wanted some advice around investment banking. I’m joining a boutique investment bank/VC fund in the next month as an intern. I’m a final year MBA student. I don’t have a background in finance and want to ensure that I can build professional Valuation models (3 statement, M&A...). What are some good materials/training resources to learn building these models on my own from absolute scratch...Many thanks for any helpful tips/advice!!
Is PwC still hiring? I'm having a tough time getting the recruiter to respond back to me after 3 really good interviews with Partners. Should I ask the person that referred me to ping the recruiter and see what's up?
Hello everyone, I'm currently eyeing an opening @ PwC. It is an entry-level role, and I positively think that I may have a real shot at this if I could just strengthen my chances to land an interview. Can someone here from PwC be so kind as to refer me for this role? I'd really appreciate your help!
Culture fit / interview at Deloitte GPS: Recently Scheduled interviews and asked Recruiter about the cultural fit part. She said they look for: - consulting experience (of course) - Open and willingness to work on diff. Things - hard worker -friendly -helpful -quick and willing learner So: A) Regarding the interviews, Does this seem about right ? B) Does this reflect the actual culture? IE: Are Deloitte colleagues friendly and helpful? Thank you!

I’m a second year associate at mid market firm, did my first year at a big 4 but got laid off last year due to covid. I’m motivated to return to big 4 but I’m concerned with how that looks, switching firms pretty quickly. Would it do me any favors to explain to future employers that exiting my first firm was involuntary? Is it challenging to crack into big 4 as an experienced hire but one that doesn’t have a lot of senior experience yet? Appreciate any insight!
Might not be the standard post, but I'm really going crazy. We have been trying for a while and today saw this. I see my OBGYN in 2 days, until then- does this mean I'm pregnant? I feel like it's a dream and I'm doubting myself and not sure if I'm reading it right or if it's all in my head!! It's positive, right?
