Anyone have any insight into whether Polsinelli is going to make ANY move to raise in response to all these other raises?

Currently, I have an employee who is struggling. Missing deadlines, making false promises to clients etc. Recently, I sat in one of his development sessions with his manager, and I was shocked at how disengaged he was and how junior he actually vs what we pay him. After some further investigation, we are afraid he lied on his resume and how his experience. How do you go about a situation such as this? This is a first for me.
What does your work schedule look like (roughly) if you are aiming for 1900 billable hours?
I have worked in the HR space for the past 9 years, however most of my experience has been in Talent Acquisition. I do want to move into a People Operations/Generalist role. I’m planning to go for a HR certificate but unsure if I should go for a PHR or SHRM. Please advise!
Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
First time founder - would you recommend square, stripe or something else for purchases between $150-$10k or what alternatively?
Any information on Akerman? Culture? Hours requirement? Pay? They have remote positions now, not sure if/how that affects pay.
I’m taking the SPHR in less than 2 months and haven’t started studying for it. How difficult is it? I’ve been in HR for 20 years and have experienced ALOT in that time, although there are always employee relations scenarios that surprise me! How much do I really need to study for this? I just can’t seem to motivate myself to do it, I’m so mentally burnt out at the end of the day from a high stress HR job, the last thing I feel like doing is studying HR!
Happy (zoom) Passover for everyone celebrating!
For those of you in house, do you actually read the articles written up by law firms? I’m constantly being asked to do this non billable work and I’m not in a place to reject and want to know the actual value of this exercise.
Does anyone else get tongue tied under pressure? I feel like I keep mixing up my words and trailing off... this doesn’t happen for oral argument, where I’ve throughly prepared and I know the information well- but when a partner asks me a question on something new, I tend to flop and my mind starts bullshitting on its own. Any tips on how to combat this?
Monday morning and the only thing that goes through my mind is wow I hate my job. Between the strict requirement of releasing billing time daily, high billable goal and I guess a heavy workload (and everything that comes with living through a pandemic) it’s hard to start my day excited for work. And I hate it. Makes me question why I’m doing this for a living.
Anyone have any thoughts on Orrick SF?
Any thoughts or insight into Skadden’s litigation group in Chicago? I am currently a third year associate.
Ladies & Gentlemen, with one month left in Q2, some will fall short of our numbers. Others will hit them. I can’t speak for all of us here, however, I can speak for myself. That being said, I will NOT be one that comes up short of my number. Now, this leads me to you all, to present a question. If you have to prospect, if you’re looking for new business, is it worth $1500 to put 95% of your prospecting process on autopilot? If so, let’s chat.
Performance Metric Question - can anyone share how they measure performance in an environment where collecting payments drives the business? How do you incentivize for making payment goals to ensure the sale/money is made but at the same time not impacting customer experience or bad behaviors to make attain incentives.
Any opinions or insight on Butler Snow?
Platinum elites members with four legged companions... have you found a good way around Marriott's pet fees for personal travel/stays?
Anyone come through LGA terminal B in the last few minutes? How long is the line/wait for a yellow cab?
Has anyone made an exit from consulting to product management? I would like to do this but don’t have much experience. Would love to get advice on what training or books I should focus on to get a general background.
Anyone went to India and WFH from there?
Oliver Wyman revenue down 13% in Q2 from 2019 - not bad in middle of covid -19. YTD down 7%. Thought this was an important benchmark when people ask how “strategy” consulting is doing
What is the new manager salary in M&A tax?
I am interviewing for Google tomorrow. While I feel confident in some ways, I also feel like I am way out of my league. I am not an engineer. I am a long time product manager and marketer from the likes of Microsoft and other NW tech companies. I still feel like there is so much for me to learn. I am many years out of college and just wish I had more confidence in my abilities. I miss my younger self and her kick ass and take names attitude! ;)
Thoughts on Customer Success orgs within major SaaS companies? Any folks with experience in a Customer Success role at a large SaaS company can provide some insight?
Asking for a raise. I currently make under 45k. My rent is increasing this year, cost of living in my area is going up and I need a raise. Not want, but need. What is the best way to approach this conversation with my manager? Additionally, what’s a decent percentage to ask for? I want to ask for a higher %, because my employer will definitely push back. I’ve done nothing but work from home and save this past year. I don’t want to eat up what I’ve saved just because I won’t get a raise.
I have 10+ years of SaaS sales experience and thinking about a pivot to a partner/alliance/channel role. I've worked at large tech and startups but always in a direct selling role. In most of my roles, I've worked alongside and helped enabling partners on product, sales process, negotiation etc. Any tips for how to make this transition as far as positioning experience/skills in hiring process and roles to look for?
Just started my job in industry. I make 40% more than I was making before. It was my promotion year to SM and I got the verbal confirmation of SM promo. Still I prolly make 25% more than 1st year SM..
Moving to a much smaller firm that doesn’t provide phones and only reimburse $50 of phone bills. For the first time in almost 10 years I need to buy a phone and get a plan. What model of the iPhone and carrier plan would you recommend?
What are the perks of being a partner in MBB? I know all the negatives, but what is the positive besides the money.
How long does ZS typically take to give final round interview results? I thought I did really well on the struct/unstruct cases as well as the behavioral, but now I’m totally second guessing myself since the recruiter said it would be 24hrs and I haven’t heard back a week and a half later ... (Undergrad Hire)
how’s strat at anomaly? 👀
Anyone working at Palantir Technologies Inc. as a deployment strategist? What are exit opportunities like? Currently getting recruited and the position seems rather vague. Was also told that due to the flat culture in the company your job title essentially doesn’t change and recruiters would not be able to “see” your progression in the firm on paper.
If you were looking to exit Big 4 Consulting, what positions would you be targeting? I have done a little of everything with no specialization (great performance reviews across the board). But now a little unsure of what my skills really are from an employer POV.
Do Sales Engineers/Presales Consultants make more money(Factoring in commission and bonuses) than Consultants working at BIG 4 or overall in their careers? If so, why not become a sales engineer/Presales consultant?
