We don't do sign on bonuses very frequently. HR will have to go to bat for it and I very rarely see over 5-10k unless you have a very niche skill set

If current bonus is 20%, seems reasonable to ask the new firm to cover it since you'll lose a year in the new review process

No harm in asking, but keep in mind you have the privilege of joining their esteemed practice which has no monetary value and I doubt they're going to care what your maybe bonus would be for the firm you clearly don't want to stay with. You don't have the upper hand here OP, but see what you can get. Maybe you can bump it up a few k even if it doesn't reach the full 20%
I actually have no real interest in leaving my current firm, both recruiters came looking for me. So to be honest, unless they show up I'm perfectly content staying in my current position. The reason I asked was just to see what other fish have been successful negotiating to see if it's even worth my time.
