4th year corporate associate here. I’ll be starting an in-house role with a large public tech company in the next few months, but haven’t given notice yet. What sort of things should I be considering to prepare for the transition? Anything to take advantage of while still at the firm? The company is not a firm client, but we (the firm) have worked across from them on a few transactions.

I've a question on what sections to put on a regular resume. I see some people are using consulting style resume for outside companies as well. Do you think it's a good idea to devide work experience by projets? Been in house for 5 years with current company (practice for 7), considering a move to a firm that is mid size but on big law pay scale - firm claims to be big on work/life balance. Currently working a ton and only making $140k + 20% bonus. Given how everyone dreams of moving in-house, am I crazy to move to a firm?

Additional Posts in In-House Counsel

I’m in-house at a small company (60 people), started right out of law school about 5 years ago. We had a legal team of 5 then. Everyone has left and we just hired a new GC. I went from $70k to $100k a little over a year ago. I am expecting an offer from a firm doing business law work but think this might be an opportunity to go to my current employer and ask for a significant raise, with new offer in hand. Any thoughts or advice going into this?

Trials are rare, and I just don’t think these guys have actually tried many cases. Cont. below…
