A Big4 approached me with an opportunity. I am currently working on H-1B. Why would a company request to login to portal and submit all my documents before the interview and offer?

The only scenario I can think of is if you are transferring your H1B based on I140, they might want to check if it's filed for a similar role. However, there is no reason to do any of that before clearing the interview. You need to ask the recruiter for the reasoning.

I'm not H1B but I had to do a similar thing for my status. They want to be sure they can employ you before extending an offer and potentially wasting time.
Why would a company waste their time and effort of interviewing before confirming you are in a visa category which can be transferred? It’s part of the screening process.
