You can get there without hopping pretty easily in public
200K in 10 years puts you at Senior Manager, which is like 140-175K based on cost of living. Hopping is necessary in my experience.
8 years Exp. Left GT as a manger with 5.5 years experience. Have worked in reporting for the last 2.5 years at F100 public company, total comp is just below 200k. So think that target is reasonable.
Depends on what you do and where you live. 10 years puts you at Sr Manager in public
People at A&M hit $300-500k in less than 10 years.
i think it’s reasonable in a HCOL. There are seniors at some firms with like 4-5 YOE rocking 200k all in
Rising Star
I hit $200k @ 12yoe in mcol as a d
6.5 YOE at same firm (PA) have just about tripled TC. It is possible.
Pass the CPA exam
Easily. I’m at 8 YOE TC $180k MCOL. Should be well over $200k after SM promotion
I hit that in my 5th year. Even if I’m a bit of an outlier I’d say it’s definitely realistic by year 10.
$200K in 10 years is no problem. $300K you’ll probably wanna steer clear of industry, audit, or tax. You’re more likely to hit the higher end of that range if you specialize early, job hop, get lucky with the right role/company, or some combo of all 3.
Very
I hit over $250 with accounting background in 5 years (still very much using my accounting background). Hoping to double by 10. Don’t limit yourself
5 years 250k? Bbbb bullshit alert
I got there (low end) at about 7 years. All at Big 4 prior to moving to industry
I did it at 7 years Big 4 Advisory Manager and started in Big 4 Audit. 205k after bonus as a M2/M3.
