Generally curious how many companies offer phone reimbursement? My last gig did not but the current one does. Legally it seems, all employers are required to do so if we use our phone in literally any capacity (video call, slack, teams, emails etc). How prevalent is the issue of not reimbursing phone dues?

Hi Dance Teachers! What have been your favorite “get to know you activities” over zoom on the first few days of school?

I was recently offered a Zoom interview. The school had 10 interview slots for me to choose from. Three were one day this week and the rest are next week. I chose the first time slot available. Should I have waited until one of the last slots so I was fresher on their mind when choosing a candidate? I am just sitting here stressing out until I here something. Also, do interviewers still appreciate a hand written thank you for the interview?

Zoom meetings have been fantastic. I can highly recommend my home group SOS. 7:30 daily. Great way to get grounded as you start your day.

A majority of my experience is in the logistics and logistics technology side of sales. I’ve been working remotely doing over the phone/ zoom demo sales. But I would love the opportunity to service my clients in person!

I love teaching art but am having to teach remotely to 1150 kids, k - 5. Have about 54 amazing elementary art teachers in my district that share SO much! I could retire (34 yrs), but just don’t want to because I love what I do! Feeling like my students aren’t getting what they should because I am struggling with Zoom, Microsoft, safe YouTube, bitmoji, embedding, downloads, editing, etc. Anyone else feeling this way?

Our district voted on returning back to school with students in the classroom and some staying at home. We now have to teach students in the room and on Zoom at the same time. I’m not complaining but does anyone have any tips on the best and most effective way to get this done?

If we thought about it back in March, we probably could’ve predicted which companies would do well, like Zoom, Amazon, Instacart, etc. And invested accordingly. Anyone have any thoughts for forecasting the next few months? Opportunities to take advantage of?

I’m thinking of starting a podcast interviewing leaders at startups about their experience with specific challenges - I know, cliche, get a more original hobby, etc.

Not looking for the narrative arc of How I Built This or Masters of Scale. Instead, looking to uncover specific problems faced by companies that tried something new for the first time. What did they not see coming, how did they adapt and measure, etc.

Many companies have these strict policies about what you can and cannot post on social media, which is fine and all, but the second you try to address a concern or highlight something in your workplace that could be improved, they will come down on you like the hammer of Thor.

Best influencer search tools or strategies for sourcing?

Subs! Internal subbing is draining the life out of teachers. The sub schedule comes out at the last minute bc of so many teacher absences. It’s the split classes in one period (1/2 Gen Ed and a Special Ed class) Teachers on a cart. Subs pick up students and deliver students. Class changeovers take 10 minutes bc of the domino effect. We’re all waiting for next sub. Teachers are late for their own classes. Students are in chaos with rotating subs. We pay $100 a day. Is the Solution in plain sight?

After 2 years asking for a change in my position, today I was told once again that my request would not be honored. I know the best answer is to apply elsewhere. Knowing that it is late in the hiring process and many districts around me have initiated hiring freezes, please give me the best advice on how to look forward to next year:

How do you deal with finding out that a student died of covid? How do you process it?

What does/did your Administration do during COVID for Self-Care for Teachers & Staff? It was beautiful weather outside *unless there is an ER, no calls/texts to colleagues after 6 pm and on weekends. What is happening/happened at your schools??

Tonight is hard because tomorrow I will be attending a funeral for a former student. He died by suicide.

5 years ago I read him Magic Treehouse books.

I remember how excited he was to meet his behavior goal for the first time.

I was hoping to see him in 2 years at the HS.

It’s hard not to take work home with us but we can’t, not even papers to grade. Give yourself a rest at home!
