AA Flight cancelled (personal travel) due to weather and rebooked for tomorrow. I can get to another airport nearby where there’s a Delta flight that’s direct tonight - best way to approach? Used CSR

Minneapolis is 6 hours from Chi and that drive will be hell tonight. From your post, it’s is really unclear what your objective is.

Like BCG1 said, don’t drive to Minneapolis tonight just to grab a flight. With holiday traffic and the winter storm warnings — which may end up as just horrendous mixed precipitation — it’s absolutely unadvisable on every level

It’s Chicago and I can get to Minneapolis so I think I will be ok

If you are willing to pay for the Delta flight then do it. Since it’s weather, you many not get a refund for the AA portion or a hotel voucher, so depending on how much the flight is... you could break even.

like

Approach what? BTW that Delta flight will likely be cancelled as well

It's bad weather so it's not only AA cancelling flights. No job is worth risking your life so definitely don't drive. If you want to try your luck, Delta is in terminal 2 in O'Hare and they have a bigger presence in Midway. If they can book you then you can pay with CSR and then file a claim with Chase benefits to get reimbursed. Nothing is guaranteed with insurance claims but you should have a good chance of getting back the money. You'd also have to ask AA for a refund and they should give you a refund voucher since the flight was cancelled.

Sorry flying on a regional flight to ord and connecting, or I can drive 2 hrs to msp (where the direct on Delta is)

Is this the second half of your flight? If yes, then cool do whatever. If it’s the first leg, careful, if you don’t take the first half, second could be cancelled.

Also funny because I’m currently on a flight from MSP to ORD. Fingers crossed my flight out of Ord isn’t cancelled

My evening flight from ORD to DTW this evening was cancelled due to the weather. Best of luck all!

CSR has delay insurance. Look up the benefits guide. A night stay will be covered. Get a note from the airline and keep all receipts
