Remember turn off your camera if you attend a zoom meeting without pants.
You never know when you are going to need to stand up.
Schedule as many 1:1s with people as you can. Found it was easier to remember who did what vs. mass introductions/group meetings.
☝️
But also remember to put on pants and leave your camera on, at least for the first weeks.
Just be a normal person. I’ve seen quite a few new remote people come in guns ablaze and trying to overcompensate for not having face time. It’s ok to be chill and watch for a bit
Haha, luckily everyone will still be entirely remote when I start which should help. We just hired someone on my old team that is like this so a good reminder

The first day is weird. Then the first week is weird. Then it gets better. It's everything you normally go through when entering a new environment, except you go through it in a home environment you know very well and are comfortable in. Hard to explain, but you'll see what I mean.
Give yourself time to make friends. It’s the hardest thing. You’ll find your people.
Bond over the fact that you like to walk around half naked in you home
Just be yourself. Listen. Contribute when needed. Ask pertinent questions, or ask them off Zoom to those that can answer. Relax, you got this.
Ask for someone to walk you through your company’s org chart describing how each dept interacts with each other. Schedule 1:1s with people you’ll likely have to interact with.
