Accounting isn’t doing it for me, for a whole laundry list of reasons. I have to put in one more year at PwC, but afterwards I want to leave the industry altogether. What soft and hard skills do us CPAs have that look good in other industries?

The same soft skills every Company looks for, personable, problem-solving, dedicated, proficient in writing, ability to teach yourself new things, etc

To add - Organized, supervisory skills, project management. But, what do you mean by getting out of accounting altogether? Something you need a different college degree for?

Do you know what else you’d rather do? Ppl that like accounting generally like the structure, stability and predictability.
Usually the opposite of that is sales. In that realm, you could leverage client facing experience to sell some kind of acct software or just straight up do recruiting

I have been working as a data scientist since 2018 & have been the bread winner. I have neither been under a proper mentor nor with a team of peers from my field to help me out. I was alone and confused. I have never really got the chance to prove myself which makes me all the more depressed. I'm not sure what to do with my future, indecisive and low on confidence.

Has anyone here moved from advertising to tech?

Currently a first year staff in Risk Advisory in a Mid-Tier Firm hoping to move to Big 4 for either Risk or Cyber. When would be the most appropriate time to make the change? I heard that Senior Staff in mid-tier would most likely be hired as an “Experienced Hire” in Big 4. So would it be smarter to make the move now as a first year staff since I’ll be considered Experienced Hire anyway?
