For Deloitte UK OD the case was a role play pitching to a client on Deloitte’s OD methodology as though we were bidding for work. From memory (this was roughly 2 years ago), we received a brief in the format of an email from a partner explaining the client requirements. We then had to put a presentation together tailoring the OD methodology to the specific client challenges. The presentation was followed by a Q&A to probe further into your answers. I would suggest familiarising yourself with EY’s OD approach and best practice as these will really help, even if the case is in a different format.
The case study will be based on the main area that you say you specialise in i.e. if you say you’re a change specialist you’ll get a change management case study. You’ll be emailed a case study and have approx. 30 mins to prepare a presentation in PowerPoint and then you’ll present for 30 mins, with W&A. They want to see how you think and apply frameworks. Example of Change management case study could be how to structure a project when it was disorganised and you’re coming in to fix the mess
Following. Have interviews set up with PAS as well
About to accept and offer from this group! For my interview, there was no case. Just 3 behavioral interviews. For your interview, just focus on how you helped your internal clients through different projects! But if you do have a case, just focus on majority on the change management portion. I did one for Deloitte recently.
Sure! So for my case it focused on an organization that was struggling with attrition, both through retirement and voluntary turnover. The company noticed employees were leaving due to no career trajectory or proper training. Also, it mentioned how the company had a not so good HCM system or process for employees to receive feedback. The goal was to figure out which steps you would take to help the org with its problem. The case left plenty of room to be solved regarding a workforce, org, or tech transformation!
Ive never done a case when conducting interviews (its been a few months) so I’d confirm with recruiting first. But either way for the behavioral portion, focus on problem solving, driving results, etc. For case and anything else, be prepared to talk through a change methodology (there is no specific “right” one but some thing that shows structure and organized thinking). I coach others to prep by outlining a phased approach and mapping which activities fall under each. Another good prep activity is to outline inputs and outputs of each phase/activity which you won’t have time to discuss each but it’ll help you speak to probing questions your interviewers might have.
Personality and confidence are important and just remember to breathe, take your time and smile. Good luck!
I just got an offer for a SC role in EY PAS (HRT) starting in 3 weeks. No case interview, just three behavioral. You’ll do just fine. Shoot me a msg if you want to connect, I’d be more than happy to chat about the process!! Good luck!
