Bain & Company Can someone recommend a good starting point on how to go around solving case interviews? What frameworks should I follow? I am kinda new to case interview and want to develop skills to solve them. Any books, online sources would be really appreciable. Salaries typically work in bands. If you did MBA OCR you'll probably get the standard campus offer. You can try to negotiate more, but YMMV and will likely not be able to get any more than the top end of your band (then your pay raises would be throttled until promotion). I've managed many MDs and while they are smart, there's a steep learning curve to transition into consulting and some firms are aware of that. To answer your question, it doesn't hurt and ask for a figure 10-20% higher and see what happens. I would have some rationale and datapoints ready to support why that's a justifiable number, given (assumed) lack of consulting experience.
OP, ask for a ~20% bump, and expect them to come back with 15%. Pretty standard, so I don't see that as being an issue. Keep in mind, negotiate well now, because this is the number that will be your baseline at the firm going forward.
Switching from one big four to another. Advice from any firm greatly appreciated.
15% bump is standard
@EM1 I was recruited because of my consulting experience at my current firm.
@EY1 So if 15% is standard, do I ask for higher and land in the middle?
Got it. You would likely be able to move to the top range of the band. You can do a little research and see what the role ranges at the new company and position your counteroffer at the top of the band.
@EM1 thank you!!!
