🙄 stop your whining and grow up. It’s short term, helps the firm, is needed to help the economy, and keeps you busy. Someday you might even look back on it as a story you tell your kids.
Doesn’t make it any better m3
I am a first generation immigrant. Frankly I would say if an immigrant gets an opportunity that you have she would jump in with both feet. The immigrants survive in US by doing truly whatever it takes, whatever jobs, whatever locations. Trust me. They would do anything to feed their family. That is the mentality that makes America great. Think about those Europeans who moved to US 300 years ago. Take this as an experience to build character. Please stop whining. There is always a silver lining there. Go luck my friend.
You know the old saying
We’re doing that work too. Assume everyone is. Easy money that makes us all look good. Essentially staff aug, right?
What bank?
We’re all selling similar / same stuff. An MD networking call I was on summed it up as best as he could and I tend to agree: at the end of the day it’s what makes the firm money now. While work may be boring and not what folks signed up for, it’s chargeable and it has direct meaningful impact on the economy and the country, and it will only be for 2-4 months probably. I totally think those hours are messed up though. That’s just my opinion though. I think at the end of the day we need to step back and realize we work for large firms that seek profits, and this is one of the ways to stay afloat. Better than selling nothing
You know 6.6mm ppl filed for unemployment this month, right?
That was just one week!
How is "processing loans' consulting? 🤔
Agreed with M5. At ACN, we are staffing analysts in a bunch of call center work
All these 🤡s talking about "not complaining" and "grow up" and "be appreciative". F that.
100% chance that any one of the people saying these things would be complaining on here too if they had to work a graveyard, staff Aug shift. What if this person had kids or a parent to take care of?
It is completely justified to be upset about this. The whole point of going to college and getting a lucrative job is so that you aren't working like an indentured servant somewhere.
Either these people have Twitter fingers or they are the a-hole managers, counselors and leaders that people come on this app to complain about in the first place.
Folks are overlooking the fact that the Firm gave everyone an option to opt out. Complaining on Fish will not resolve your personal situation. If you have personal commitments that do not allow you to accommodate the schedule, there are channels for you to reach out to immediately. These are challenging times, and to get through this pandemic without mass irreparable economy impacts to our communities, our country, and the world, everyone will need to sacrifice and contribute in some way. You are able to contribute and be paid. Millions and millions are not being paid and need these benefits to flow down to them.
And no, I was not forced to be part of this Program, I volunteered. I will figure out how to support my awesome teams who are working day to day on my client engagements. That is the great story about KPMG. Our culture of pulling together for a cause that is bigger than each one of us. Helping our communities and helping our Firm.
I get what everyone’s saying about complaining and stepping up but honestly I’ve been disrespected by the firm in the past and have never been on the bench, even right now. Wanted to leave the firm this spring then this craziness happened. I’m just looking for options, even if unpaid. I’m not going to quit though.
I’m trying to figure out what you mean by disrespected?
Cont: the lowest cost. I really do not like the work my job offers and haven’t for the last two years. I don’t have expenses and am considering voluntary leave / furlough . Does anyone have any thoughts or advice on how to handle this situation? I feel like there’s someone in a more dire situation who could use this opportunity. I’m not trying to sound ungrateful, I am already unhappy and this work/hours will set me over edge .
But you still have to pay for your benefits from your reduced pay.
My partner runs her own business and will be applying for one of these programs to keep the 15 people who work for her employed. I get it, it’s not what you (or anyone) really want to do. But it makes an impact on actual people who really need it.
Everyone is pushing staff aug right now...welcome to the party
This is why people who are billable and burning the midnight oil are upset about losing VC.
If you’re on the bench step up and get billable. It’s like 45 days.
If your a low performing step up.
I graduated undergrad in 2010 in South East Michigan, had no job prospects as the local economy was decimated, so ended up driving taxi night shifts in order to pay rent...doing loan processing, while working from home over night and getting consulting salary surely beats being laid off!
Of course it depends on each individual’s situation (kids, family obligations, health, etc.). The big unknown is how long the crisis will last, a 1 month furlough can turn into a permanent termination of employment.
the partners are just having a laugh with this. you’re doing the equivalent of white collar factory work, then once you’re done they will lay you off.
Haven’t heard one laugh. They are taking this serious as I’m sure my partners do not want to let anyone in their team go.
This type of work can be demoralizing for sure, but unless you have a exit plan ready. Might just have to bear with it, I did something similar that was mind numbing for 6 months. Just had to make due and make the best out of the situation.
I feel like everyone saying grow up is missing the 6pm-6am aspect. That is brutal, what if you have kids and stuff at home. Would love to see the activity in kpmg bowl right now
Those of you stating the three shifts thing - where are you getting this Information? I am on the project and it’s been repeatedly hammered that all of us will be working 6pm to 6am shifts.
Wait, working overnight?
I’m sure come sep 2020 everyone on this project will get dinged for not working on BD initiatives (due to working nights and catching up on sleep in the mornings) and be given said reason for no promo/ raise
So how many deals did you sell during this stay at home ?
I’d volunteer to be fired and collect unemployment
You’re making it seem like getting a job is impossible. People are still hiring and people who know their worth are still doing fine
