Hi Fishes, I am bit confused to pick the role in KPMG lighthouse as Sr Cloud Data architect or Saama technology as a Project lead. Money wise it is not a big difference. In KPMG I will work with partner where as in saama I will work with project/program manager. Please suggest your opinion. Saama KPMG KPMG India

So question: With the new fiscal year and some bids I’m key personnel, there might be new contract opportunities. Also, it looks like I am in position to be put up for promotion next cycle if I move contracts. (Initial candidates identified in April, business cases and interviews June/July, announced Aug/Sep, official $ Oct). Still- that is no guarantee. Do I apply elsewhere? Pivoting companies is easier as a Manager. I worry that being stuck at my title will not help my efforts to transition to a better aligned, higher role. The market is rough, and even if I do have another opportunity at the same level, I would have to rebuild the rapport/bd/performance history that would take just as long as waiting for a new contract opening. What would you recommend? What are your thoughts?
My performance manager and mentors agree that I have to get off contract to get a promotion since the contract is not “shiny and new”. The Engagement Manager who oversees our contract (manager’s boss) is awful, never around/does his job. It is well known that he does not advocate for his team for promotions and throws them under the bus. Others who have been on this contract as SA get stuck. The only one who got promoted only did so right after transitioning to a new contract (and it took a while to find a new one). Fortunately, my performance manager knows the situation and has linked me with mentors/things to bolster my promotion case over the years. For the last 1.5-2 years I have been looking for other contracts while leading my contract team, supporting BD efforts, and managing a loud client. I also had upcoming parental leave, so I tried to focus on the other aspects and work diligently to identify potential contract openings upon my return. There were multiple layoffs during that period, so I knew I was lucky to have a stable contract. Now, I am concerned I will be stuck as (a well paid) SA, not getting professional credit for performing at two levels above me. Anyone who has been on my contract as an SA and even been promoted, confirm that this is the level of work I’m performing. Question in next comment.
