I’ve worked at AT&T as a sales consultant for 6 years and 8 months where we prospect, uncover, and close on leads. I’ve used Salesforce for the past 4 years during my tenure. I’ve done B2B sales where I’ve received awards for it for 2 years consecutively. Loads of troubleshooting, uncovering needs through consultative styled selling, and tech app subscriptions.

Interview and also ask about higher compensation. There’s nothing wrong about inquiring. All they can do is tell you no.
Since this is essentially a lateral move, Is be surprised if there’s any compensation discussion. If it was a promotion, that would be more likely. In this economy with all the layoffs, I’d be concerned trying to get a raise would be seen as tone deaf especially if there had already been cuts on the team.
I recommend against asking for more $. It sounds like they’re choosing who to keep off of unemployment. If you want them to choose you, you don’t want to start off on the wrong foot.
If it's the same role I'm not sure where the angle to ask for more is, even in normal times
