I found in the US it’s standard not to receive any feedback due to risk of being sued. In Europe they’re more open to providing feedback.
It’s so frustrating! I’ve been on dozens of interviews at this point 😟
Why? Because that is their standard, scripted, canned "goodbye speech". Many companies are reluctant to get grittily personal with candidates they interviewed. The letter you received actually DOES say what needs to be said, and they're being as polite as they can be with written communication. Somebody else had the one little (or big) thing that the entire interview committee had agreed would be top value - "wouldn't it be nice if we could find a candidate who has already done XXX". I do think they could refine one of the sentences in the letter a bit - "...chosen to proceed with a candidate whose skills and experience closely align with the requirements". Obviously you felt that your skills and experience closely aligned..........and more than likely every other candidate thought that as well, of themselves. You wouldn't have applied for the job if you felt your skills and experience DID NOT align with the requirements !! But expecting a personalized, moment-by-moment replay of the interview from the Recruiter won't happen. Just as they would not tell the successful candidate why HE got the job and not YOU. I agree that it would be valuable to know if you are doing some little thing that puts interviewers off but that you could easily change if you knew it was a problem.
