I applied with EY for a Senior Manager role I had my first stage interview with a senior manager, which I thought went well as I got the partner interview 2 weeks later, and said I'll be contact within 10 day HR. This did not happen so I chased up. Today I received feedback from HR stating that the senior manager, who would have been my peer, said I didn't have enough experience. But the partner who I would have been working under did like me.
Is this normal with EY recruitment
Anyone got recruited for Pune location recently? My interview process has been completed and asked for documents on 23rd Dec, but till now I haven’t got any update after that. Today i called HR and they said manager has not provided any update on my application. Should i wait for the offer letter or look opportunity in another organisation? Deloitte Deloitte India

Unlikely to be anything other than an overworked Hiring Manager who doesn’t have enough hours in the day.
Appreciate it. I’m still interested in speaking with them. The role sounds exciting and fulfilling.
This happened to me 18 months ago. I had 6/9 loop interviews (seemed ridiculous for an EA role) they continuously cancelled on me, up to 30 mins ahead of the call. I had taken a week of annual leave to do the loop as the recruiter suggested it. They were trying to push it out to the week after. I withdrew my application after the hiring manager cancelled on me for a 3rd time last minute. It was a good sign of how they would value my time in the role.
I also had an interview with a HR manager and she didn’t know my name and interviewed me for something else. Got it the end of the interview and realised I was applying for the EA role so none of my answers the whole time made sense to her and she was looking at me like I was an absolute twit on the call… turns out it wasn’t me who was the twit.
Sorry to hear you experienced this. I hope you have landed on something more positive.
I wish you well with that.
It’s a horrible candidate experience, but it does happen more frequently than you would imagine. Our HMs are stressed and finding an hour to interview a candidate seems as if it would be a no brained, but so so so many things come up. I would say as long as they have rescheduled, and not cancelled, there is still hope :)
I appreciate your input. I also reached out to my recruiter and she was very kind to affirm me I’m still in the running.
(Oh yea, I completely understand how its like when it came to “canceled”. )
I only worked at Prime only location but from my experience and things I’ve heard Amazon over hires for the amount of roles they actually have especially for flex schedules maybe a blessing in disguise . Just saying. Wish all well.
I have interviewed with Amazon multiple times and this is ALWAYSS the case. They have a terrible hiring process. Up to you if you still want to vie for the role and work at a place that treats people the way they do.
If you are being treated like this to get hired do you think it will get better once you are hired?
This is a sign telling to stop wasting your time and move on.
There is a reason Amazon is having issues hiring and it’s not because they are growing, it’s because so many have already worked to them and left and have told others about their experience.
The TV commercials make it look like paradise and a great place, but they use actors. Very few will ever move up or gain what these “employees” cla
It’s because Amazon is going through a worker strike - strikers, vehicles blocking exits / entrances. I had same thing happen to me with phone interview , and when I finally got an in person interview it’s was interesting getting to the building. Now I am waiting and getting more indeed telling me to apply there again , lol
Move on! If they can't get their "stuff" together to schedule an interview what else is a hot mess? If they really want you they will schedule you in a timely professional manner. Sounds like you're about 25 on their list. I'm sure you're worth much more!
This company will promise anything to get staff to work for them, and then work them so hard they burn out. I know people who were working 50/60 hour weeks. Avoid.
A few years ago, i interviewed w Amazon and was very excited… at first. I had gotten a message from the recruiter, then i had to do an online test, then i had to do a one-way video interview (where you have to film yourself answering written questions). I thought the next step would be the final step but it wasnt- i had to interview with someone else, THEN got to the actual hiring manager. For me, 3 part process is max (& research shows 3 is the magic number for candidates). I tried to give some leniency bc its Amazon.
I finally got to the last round and the hiring manager was late joining the call and also seemed very unprepared. Like the one poster’s experience, i was being asked questions that had nothing to do with the HR Manager role i applied to- she was asking questions about warehouse work (which i could actually answer bc appx 20 yrs earlier i worked on a loading dock). Almost at the end, she made another comment regarding order packing requirements etc and i commented about performance evaluations & discussions. This is when she realized the role i applied for and seemed confused.
It was maybe an hour later i got a notification they were passing on me in favor of other candidates. Even if they contacted me again now, i wouldnt be interested after my experience.
I spent a year working as Level 5 area manager in a delivery station - the role left me in therapy for work induced anxiety and depression. The culture at Amazon is poor (although they talk about it being good). The stress is high and the targets are often in achievable. Don’t believe the hype and propaganda on LinkedIn - I wouldn’t recommend that anyone work at amazon.
*unachievable
Amazon just had another major layoff that placed many on sidelines prior to their stock vesting… Most of them were among the top 10 percent performers in AWS. Does that sound like a company that you want to join?
Nobody can tell except the recruiter. If the recruiter isn't communicating why schedule changes are happening, time to find a recruiter who has respect for your time.
Same Wan wngineer role I applied very bad experience with Amazon, person with indian telugu accent asking.very bad questions, even chatgpt and AI can answer, they are asking in the phone for interview
Something's fishy go by your gut instinct when they jerk you around it's a sign
Ok
I had this happen to me at a company in which I was really interested. The first time it was rescheduled 30 mins prior due to an emgergency. Ok, things happen. The rescheduled interview 3 days later was cancelled 3 minutes after the interview began. They attempted to reschedule, I withdrew my bid. We all have things happen but people need jobs and obviously they are hiring.
When you cannot respect the time and effort the candidates put in to the interview. I do not want to work for you. It is a sign of what is to come. When people show you who they are, believe them.
