Any advice on getting clients to do their part in moving the case along? I feel like I constantly have clients who don't get back to me, don't provide documents until the last second, try to have their partners answer our questions for them, etc. Is their a way to encourage them or make it easier so that I can do my job easier, too?

Our paralegal made a "worksheet" type thing to give clients so they know what they have to do and when.

Care to have that paralegal share said worksheet? Haha

Call them in the beginning then after the first ‘mistake’ and make it abundantly clear that the quicker they move, the better it looks and the more money you can make them.

Welcome to the practice of law.

It is frustrating, but then you realize that if the clients could do this on their own, you would be unemployed.

How about educating them on deadlines and helping them to understand this is their money and future

like

I tell the clients from the beginning you can only get what your willing to put in, money isn’t just handed out, I don’t get paid until you get paid and for that to happen you have to make it work. Be upfront. And when they don’t get what they want because they don’t cooperate I say I told you exactly what was necessary for you to get the desired amount. And always note it in your platform on their case file. CYA always.

Over the past year, my counsel is constantly judged by a select few senior business folks (eg arguing over FTC compliance, IP risk counsel, and even simple things regarding NDAs that any attorney wouldn’t question. It’s very frustrating that my own team is the one I have to defend my logic to (and not opposing counsel). It feels like they want a rubber stamper, which is not me.I never faced this at my prior in-house roles (probably because they were much a larger). Any advice on how to handle?

Is there a corporate way to bring up to senior leaders that an IC is causing issues across multiple teams because they are demanding and also doesn’t collaborate well? The IC gives vague “direction” then says they are too busy to clarify. They also refuse to use our project management/ collaboration tools.

Anyone do referrals for open positions in AT & T

Every night for like the past month I’ve been getting incredibly emotional about adulthood. I miss the lack of responsibility, the simplicity of life, friends were always around, and less pressure to be successful.

I’m 3 years out of college now so it’s not like I just started doing this stuff, but I am feeling the exact same feeling as I did when I first started work and just wanted to be back in college. I know I just need to grow up and accept that’s how life is but it’s incredibly upsetting

Anyone know a Connecticut or 2nd circuit case for this rule? I can’t find one to save my life. A defendant generally is liable for all harmful results that are the normal incidents of and within the increased risk caused by their negligent acts. If a defendant's negligence was a substantial factor in producing the plaintiff's injuries, the element of proximate cause has been satisfied and the defendant would not be relieved from liability for those injuries even though another force concurred..

I also take the driver seat for the grunt work on the firms bigger cases which are at or near 7 figure value. I constantly feel (cont.)

I currently work at a small PI firm in Atlanta were EVERYTHING is settled presuit. If we’re unable to settle, then it’s referred to another firm for litigation. This whole process seems very atypical to me and the attorneys rarely touch a file until the first liability offer is received. The paralegals handle everything from intake to drafting the demands. The attorney briefly skims (does NOT read) the demand packages and signs. Is this ethical?? Anyone else work at a firm that is run this way??
