Any advice on how to go from typical management/strategy consulting into IB/PE? I have always been into financial services/investment industry. I was never able to break in and consulting was a good next option, but I still have the urge to get in. 28year old analyst level with masters in strategy & finance. I definitely would prefer to enter buy side than back-end….

Can anyone recommend any resources/certifications for financial modelling? Looking for something comprehensive as I need to learn the skills, while establishing credibility as I wish to work in the industry, but have a degree in mechanical engineering and all my internships were in it. Is breaking into equity research/coverage teams as hard as breaking into traditional advisory/M&A IB being from a non target school with a non finance degree?

Say I work in tech and have a decent finance experience. Would my 3 yoe of domain "expertise" in tech make me an attractive bet for the banks Tech coverage team? In other words, does having experience in Tech make me more hireable for IBD?

Has anyone made the transition from non-profit and small firm practice to federal government, big law, in-house? I’m a special education parent attorney at a small firm and I’ve spent my legal career in the education and juvenile areas of the law working for 2 non-profits before ending up at the firm. However, I’m just exhausted, unmotivated, and and looking for a change. At this point (6.5 yrs of practice), is that type of transition even possible or am I stuck due to the practice area?
