In person as much as possible. Make sure they know it’s the opportunity and not them behind the move, thank them for the time together and express confidence (genuinely, as long as you have it) that they’ll be just fine without you. In the first month after you leave, make serious efforts to meet them for lunch or coffee and ask how things are going. Be available as much as you can for questions or other help once you’re gone.
Thanks! Ill definitely approach them that way. I’ve been trying to close out as many projects as possible mid-December through now to hopefully not leave a huge hole on the team. Didn’t think about helping post-leaving. I’ll add that for sure.
I'd give them as much notice as possible. Just went through this with my team and gave 8 weeks notice. They were happy for me but sad to see me go and really appreciated the long notice time to get someone lined up before I left. I just said it was just a personal decision and said I loved the team but felt like it was my time to go. They all understood. Good luck!
Thank you! I’ll try to give as much notice as possible. In any event for sure more than two weeks. It’s a great group so that just makes it that much harder.
