Why has real estate remained lucrative?
Mainly agents but also developers.

The barrier to entry is low, not even sure if graduating high school is needed. My old agent even said she did it bc she can make a lot money and not work that much. She drove a new Mercedes and sent her kids to private school, husband was also an agent.

So I’m curious why it didn’t get flooded and the profit margin dampened to a $/hr closer to other jobs with similarly easy entry?

If I have two 401ks (current job and previous job), does the 19k limit apply to both of them together or 19k each?

If I were to rollover a pension lump sum into one of those 401ks, is counted towards the $19k limit? Or is rollover classified differently and I could still continue to contribute to my current 401k?

Just received an offer from citi for a credit risk associate role. There’s no mention of a set bonus range but a mention of “discretionary incentive and retention award”. Is it something standard? Never worked at a BB so don’t know the norm. Thoughts/guidance? Thanks in advance

Any particular segment of sales good for ex-finance? Currently 3 years in at fortune 100 bank on business development side (on commercial loan originations team but no commission/targets at the associate level, basically do credit analysis and build pitch books for the producers) This role has been great as I have gotten both analytical experience and tasted sales experience (I say taste bc I’m not the producer) but would potentially like to transition to a sales role that is less analytical

She said they had a busy week last week but will make a final decision this week - is the delay and radio silence a bad sign or is this typical for experienced hiring?

Edward Jones advisor with 30 million AUM and roughly 250k gross production. Been there for almost 4 years. Got an offer at Merrill Lynch to take over a 100 million dollar retirement transition plan in 5 years, or to join a 5 person Merrill Lynch team that manages a lot.

Pros to EJ: Have my own office, a year or two away from partnership, great office setting and client satisfaction.

Pros to Merrill: Bump in compensation, additional tools and services w banking, ability to take over assets.

The amount of kids coming out of B-school MBA’s with one internship and expecting 100k in low cost of living cities is crazy lol. What are they telling these students…

Is it really unrealistic to expect a raise in this current economic climate? Review period is coming up in July, and I don’t want to shoot myself in the foot by not asking for a raise.

My experience is split between FP&A and accounting and while I have progressed, I am becoming depressed b/c I feel like I’m in the wrong field. Currently at BNY Mellon with 10 YOE, specifically in Corporate Trust working CLO/CDO’s (first job out of college). I’ve moved around within the bank a few times but I’m just not happy here nor am I where I want to be in terms of comp .
