Kirkland is #1 in M&A in Texas
Can speak for KE tax - if you’re interested in big law tax, any of the Texas KE offices are amazing. Still big law, so all the pains of that, but the team members are great and the culture is very family friendly and accommodating. Feels like a safe haven among the KE corporate teams
Baker Botts is not the level of prestige it once was as larger firms have been built out in Texas - and it has a pretty poor cultural reputation overall
K&E and V&E would both likely be better bets
If you’re interested in the more localized Texas powerhouses Haynes and Boone would likely be a better place to consider than Baker Botts
GDC also very good in Dallas and worth looking at. V&E solid there as well.
BB is a pretty tier 2 firm at this point across all of TX.
Would agree with SA 1 and P1. K&E and GDC best bets (with v&e a good bit behind and bb well behind). Fwiw, though they work cross office frequently, each office within TX at K&E has bit of own practice and culture, with Dallas doing more of the infra, data center and PE secondaries work and some sports related PE work with less pure energy / real asset work in my experience than Houston for example.
