Layoff in IQVIA?
@iqvia
Thought this was interesting. Across 160 teams of researchers, just about all failed to make good life outcome predictions on things like GPA, evictions, layoffs, and others. Data followed 4.5k families across 15 years, with 13k features (varied over time). Haven't looked at it directly yet, but will be turning the docs and data inside out... In the meantime, authors claim this as showing the limits of ML. Oh, and it's published in PNAS, so you know there's some big publication energy there.

I wonder how many employees could they have avoided firing if they had first gotten rid of the bar space instead.
Or if their executives gave up part of their 250% yearly bonus instead 20% of their salary for 3 months.
Once COVID is over and the media moves on to something else from which we are currently fighting on the streets-there will be few messages other than political ones after summer.
Wait, did I skip a year?
The real market crash hasn’t happened yet. They’re still in la la land
I’m expecting more layoffs in July or August. Clients are gun-shy with budgets for the rest of the year (dependent on specialty).
Anybody who says they know exactly what’s going to happen have no idea. Will a “second wave” result in overwhelming hospitals, which was the reason social distancing was initially implemented, not to wait out the pandemic, or just an increase in cases? Will treatments/vaccines be ready by October like some vaccine makers believe? Will it return this winter in a different form? Too many variables. Too many unknowns. There will probably be more layoffs unfortunately with agencies that already had redundancies, lost accounts just prior to the pandemic and aren’t winning any business. But agencies who were in a *relatively* healthy place before, be it winning large accounts to weather this storm, will probably avoid large layoffs.
