I’m interviewing with a startup and the range has a 40k difference from the lowest to highest point. It’s also pre-seed and comes with equity, and health, 401k benefits. It’s a director of sales role so I would eventually be recruiting and managing a team along with building the processes and strategy. What would you consider a fair compensation package? If they offer me something on the lower end of the range, is it still appropriate to counter with an offer that is over their stated range?

Any tips for someone looking to get into a Strat and Ops Mgr. role? I interviewed and advanced . Recruiter said my skillset directly aligns with this type of role and mentioned there being lots of hiring being done in Atlanta but this was months ago and the recruiter said she’s been shopping my resume around… and let her know if I see anything in the interim in the careers site… no follow up interview scheduled…

Been having trouble moving on since girlfriend ended relationship 3 weeks ago after 2+ years of dating. Before ending it she came over 3 weeks prior to basically give me a chance to work things out and we had a good discussion but then I went back into our routine and didn’t really fight for it or have serious follow up convos that we needed. I don’t know about you, but this year, I want to get better at having a work/life balance. I love having the time in the summer to do things around the house, but struggle when the school year starts. How long do you spend on core subjects if not a goal on IEP? So if most goals are life skills (putting shoes on, zipping, etc.) how long would you spend on math during math hour or how much do you worry about writing activities if they can’t write etc?

My students come to my class first every morning and are really hard to settle. They continue to carry on whatever they were doing on the bus. It takes about 20 min to get them settled down and doing the warm up and the class is only 45 min. Any tips?

I love my job in special education, the job may bring quite a bit of stress and exhaustion but nothing compares to the stress of the related service team. OT, PT, speech, BCBA, social worker, etc etc is really what’s killing me this year. It is 23 days into the school year and the team members all make different plans and as a result, nothing is being accomplished. And if paraprofessionals follow ie what OT says but not PT, it cause so much unnecessary conflict!

I feel like I'm at my wits end. I teach self-contained classes and according to the ISBE website my classes shouldn't be more than 8 students unless I have an aide - then it can be 10. I have no aide and most of my classes are around 14 kids. Some with behavior plans that are only out of our behavior room setting for my class... Is anybody else out there going through illegal class sizes for self-contained? How are you dealing? Maybe a vent session is in order.
