The deductible and the out of pocket max are way lower than almost all civilian plans I've seen aside from the "Cadillac" plans.
Yeah, I miss that part of the reserves. I pay around $10k out of pocket more on my orgs high deductible plan now.
I do like having the HSA though, those are phenomenal.
I have had tricare reserve select for many years. My wife works in tech and her company has amazing health insurance options. After doing the ROI, tricare was still a much better option. In all these years we have maybe had $5000 in out of pocket expense. On hundreds of thousands of dollars in care and hospitalization! Mental health options abound as well which is where other insurance companies come up short. I can’t recommend it enough.

No HSA for Tricare. If you are healthy then it’s a huge miss on retirement savings
Hard to help without knowing your company's health insurance coverage options. But, to help you compare, go to this link and use the drop down to find Reserve Select and it'll show you everything for that plan specifically.

It's dirt cheap, and if you have (or a covered family member has) medical issues that are extensive/ expensive, I'd even recommend doing both. The extra 200$ a month for TRS was more than paid for by picking up extras during my wife's pregnancy that was not covered by our employer's insurance.
Incredibly low premiums and low catastrophic cap significantly decreasing the risk of serious financial hardship resulting from an unforeseen medical concern.
I would just note the dental coverage is somewhat limited and I believe vision is almost nonexistent It’s challenging to find good dental coverage outside the military and the approx $1500 max annual dental coverage goes quick if you have bad teeth and need crowns, root canals, etc.
But if you have an HSA, you can make up for that there.
I’m single no kids and it’s perfect for me cause I rarely go to the doctor
What are you guys paying for to have such high bills? I literally pay the premium out of every paycheck that’s like $60/paycheck and go for one visit
