Hey,
Is it a good idea to join Paypal for Software Engineer III from Walmart Software Engineer III, for the base salary of 35LPA and 9L RSUs per year for Chennai location ? I am currently withdrawing 24LPA as base and 4.2 as Variable and 3.5L RSUs vested for 4 years.
I have been told that I'll be part of Risk team under Paypal Transactions domain. Any Idea how is the work culture and tech stack here in this team?

I’ve characterized the culture as “where grown ups come to work.”….it’s just really easy to work here- Transparent and straightforward , no bs, lots of long hours, autonomy to do what is needed. It all just feels reasonable and how a company should be set up with so many seasoned vets around here.
Also, I’ve always felt comfortable being myself - Overly relaxed and goofy. At the same time, there’s a time and a place for that and with a tag line of “when it really matters,” you can’t be too shocked that people are quite serious when they are grinding.
We have a Platinion PIPE team??
I know, right? It's like saying we have a Digital Product / Services Generalist team...Oh wait
Don’t. You’ll be much happier and make more at AlixPartners.
Interesting. What don’t you like about AlixPartners? I always heard they have a fantastic culture. Knowing what you do/don’t like might help advise on the decision
Is it the team you're working with or the practice as a whole?
Curious AP staff here too. I’ve been at other consulting firms and can say the culture here is by far the best. I’d say the effort to be pragmatic and make the job sustainable win it for me.
OP, did you join during the pandemic? I personally think it’s hard to experience culture in a remote environment and wonder if that contributes to a part of your discontent.
Nonetheless, sorry you feel that way. Another option is changing teams? Same work but different people.
AP5 pay is MUCH higher here though, depends on whether EY2 sees consulting as a long term career or not.
I do.
Platinion culture is super entrepreneurial. We work with them closely and fully integrated part of the team. They really understand PE and are techie at the same time- love to work with them as I end up learning more!!!
