No advice, but would love to switch to something like this.
Feet pics?
AA2 — lol. So I always assumed that face/eyes would be the “thing,” but I dunno, this market for feet pics sounds lucrative
May I recommend that you use the search terms “advisor” or “analyst” in GlassDoor, SimplyHired, and Indeed? Under USAjobs.gov, the series code for attorney position is 0900. But as “not all that glitters is gold,” not all positions that are designated for attorneys are for positions where you would “practice law.” Under the “Miscellaneous, other” series code of 0300 you can find a broad range of fascinating, fun things to do. Yes, even remotely.
Don’t program your search to be for “remote” positions on any of these sites, even though “remote” is offered as a filter. Think of your online search (even a basic Google search will cough up some of your opportunities) as like browsing for housing:
(1) Remember that not all of those who post listings remember to check all the boxes that those searching would find helpful to use.
(2) Remember that not all those who post a job listing have a clear idea of what the position should be called or what the person hired will do.
(3) Keep an open but logical mindset regarding the potential for negotiating your salary. In federal government positions, your JD alone plus your years of practice are used as factors for calculating your salary classification.
(4) Track the market, track federal & state budgets. Different federal agencies have more money in their budgets to offer higher salaries than offer agencies can offer for the same ranked position. Some state or county “Advisor” positions pay more than similar private sector or federal government positions.
💎 What do you WANT to do? What kind of work intrigues you? What makes your heart leap in anticipation or joy? At what do you excel?
📌 Do you want OUT of law firms and legal-related environments altogether?
📌 Do you know just how ridiculously high the pay is for such ridiculously low time and work commitments in BigLaw business development positions? Saw that clearly by my 2nd firm! OMG!
📌 Do you like teaching? Law schools of any rank in your area generally always need adjunct professors. You can add that work tobyour shopping cart or plate as suggested above. Those positions are posted on the above sites, you should use more specifc language. I taught at both the undergraduate campus AND at my law school in the same year as a 3L. You can do more now with your JD!
📌 Like politics? Election issues are HOT right now and generating a wealth if positions.
📌 Like coordinating outreach efforts? You can do that from corporate positions to grass roots positions.

Wow! You are most welcome!
Hmmm … I’ve only recently left the gilded cage. Perhaps you’ll tell me sometime what would be more reasonably expectable bites of information (that are still helpful enough to have not left you hanging). Learning to write informally or socially in forums or chat msgs is still a painful re-fitting. 😕. Am still trying to figure out if writing lengthy and dense messages is an occupational hazard related to my niche(s). And, yes, I’m a nerd. 😂 I love “gap analysis.”
You’ve flattered and perplexed me. My message was just a slapdash shot — a few options not already named & rough directions on finding them. ⛩🧧 Of course, Grasshopper, I had to deliver the wisdom of your 🔑 considerations. 😂 (OK, so you’d probably already thought of them — but, they’d not been articulated. You might need to refer back to the 🔑s! 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️😂)
Ack, I just fired off that list while sitting at the edge of a booth when I was leaving a lazy, late lunch. It was not pre-planned, and thus neither well organized or well written, much less proofed beforehand. 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Glad to help!
This describes my wife’s job. She’s a proposal manager for government contracts. It’s mostly project management but I actually think attorneys have some transferable skills.
Yep, 100%. Is like 1000 miles from the company HQ. There seem to be a lot of remote proposal manager jobs. Salary is like 70-150
Try an alternative legal service provider. They hire lawyers for non lawyer roles (sales, talent management, fulfillment, etc)
Legalish, but government contracting can get you a pretty decent salary and WLB.
Claims position at an insurance company?
If you're switching careers and don't live in a HCOL area, I'm not sure that this is possible. Look at companies in states that require salary posting (Colorado and NY come to mind). Good luck!
Any govt agency job
Seconded - am at a fed agency in DC/MD/VA, nonsupervisory GS14 life after slaving away in biglaw is bliss.
Contract Analyst, Manager or specialist.
