Star method?
I would say, get her to tell her stories to a few different friends/family members and have them ask her questions till they understand. That feedback will help her make her stories crisper each time she tells it. There should be enough. After that, tell her to stop focusing on it so it feels natural (and not tiresome) when she’s in the interview.
Leave out and stuff
I’m trying to help someone who isn’t as good at behavioral questions but who is very smart. I’m used to winging it but that’s not really possible for her. Wondering how I can help her push through the mental block
Tell the truth, it is easier to remember
It's good to have a few sound bites, but ultimately you need to be authentic and wing some of it. It's more of an art then a skill. Some people straight up sell themselves better. You need to know your strengths and weaknesses and all that bs behavioral related material as bullet points and know how to speak to it, with authenticity. And when they want examples know the stories.
I would say just practice in person/on the phone with her (if y’all are that close). You prep some questions and act like a real interview (no laughing or starting over). It’ll keep her on her toes bc she doesnt know what you’re going to ask and get her more comfortable with thinking on her feet.
There=three. Three rounds of telling the story to a friend etc. should be enough, is what I meant to type.
I’d be way more impressed if you can do all the fortnite dances
Does she have a good set of stories to draw upon?
Have her focus on tightening up ~4 stories, and aligning each one to 3 or 4 questions it addresses (i.e. Story A works well for questions around a time I managed a team, when I had multiple competing priorities, and dealing with difficult managers). Then help her practice telling the stories to highlight the different answers.
