I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?
Does anyone here work for Silicon Valley Bank? They recently acquired Boston Private. I’m a candidate for a job at Boston Private. Wondering if SVB is planning layoffs in the near term at BP? Also, does anyone know the anticipated benefits to be rolled out from SVB as the parent company? Specifically interested in health insurance providers. Thanks in advance for any information! Omnicom did something similar. Hired a ton of people from across the U.S. then suddenly changed the policy knowing that nearly all of them didn’t have the financial means to move themselves or their families to the office locations… and joyfully fired them.
OMC also fired people even after they moved to the city they were told to move to, so that’s a kick in the teeth

It was a firing not a layoff
It was firing for non compliance. I was told that those affected showed up less than 25 days through the first three quarters of the year.
I was affected by this. I was hired remotely and moved to a different state about 2-3 years ago. Got approval from my boss, their boss and their bosses boss. Well after they enforced RTO, HR mentioned I wasn’t going into the office at all and a formal request was put in for me to be WFH. HR pretty much forced me to put my 2 weeks in and if I didn’t, they offered to fire me on the spot with no severance. I put my 2 weeks in as I needed the extra paycheck. Was able to find a new remote role that pays 40% more that doesn’t require me to be absolutely bludgeoned by deadlines.
A much smaller agency based on the East coast. I was looking for a good 6 months prior to the whole RTO mandate/firings/layoffs because I didn’t feel that my job was safe based on the decisions/lack of communication from the higher ups. All I was told was that I was fine, then when the whole RTO thing happened was then told that I wasn’t. I exceeded expectations every year and was a top performer, but I was fed up with the lack of pay raise (less than 4% a year) and the slow career growth. So moral of the story is save up $$, no one is safe, and in hindsight being let go was the best thing that’s happened to me.
Been hearing some chatter about going to 4 days a week in 2025.
This is true.
Was there any warning? What happened exactly?
I heard about this yesterday. my agency/team is all over the country and a lot of us are fully remote including me so I'm worried that Publicis will take away the remote option...
You all should all pursue a Class Action law suit.
They fire my whole team and set up another team in new office.
