Anybody know what is happening at Bain that they are promoting some of their managers to senior manager within 6-8 months of the last promotion to manager?

M->SM is what CTL->M was a year ago... they get auto bumped to CTL at 2ish years of tenure as a C and have to prove themselves to get promoted to M, which is kind of a PL/Pr combo level versus BCG levels. Early promote is about 6 months on time is about 12

They did recently re-do their naming convention back in July/August. So if you were a CTL, you now have the title of manager. If you were a manager, you now have the title of Senior Manager. Not sure if that’s what you’re referring to.

like

I thought I read somewhere that M -> SM is an auto-promotion that happens after a certain time period, but I could be totally wrong (also it might a newer title?)

Following. Bain?

Managers (formerly CTLs) can get early promoted to Senior Manager (former Manager) - basically the timeline is you become Manager in fall and then can either get early promote in Feb to Senior Manager or get regular promote the following fall to Senior Manager

Hey folks, I’m about a year into my new SE career and looking to continue to invest in professional skills. I’ve obviously been thrown into the fire learning the sales side of things, but what areas (technical skills, certs, books, etc.) you all would recommend I look to invest in? I’ve been looking at some beginner coding boot camps and scrum product owner certs, but interested in what you all have done to further advance your career

Anyone make the transition to an SE role that have some advice?

Any thoughts on Sidley's London office? How sharp elbowed are the associates and how much do partners genuinely try and help you develop a career? Bonus points if you can provide insight on how the corporate and finance departments work with specialists on transactional matters. As a final ask, are they genuinely into D&I and flexible working efforts or is this predominantly lip service? Thanks in advance!

Are there any good PM certification that’s worthwhile? Not something that’s on Udemy for 2 hours of coursework.
Most “certifications” I’ve seen seem a bit superficial… but my current PM job feels like a glorified project manager role so I was hoping to use my extra time to study/earn a certificate to show my skill. If possible.

Recently, the CEO and my boss, the VP gave me the latitude to promote myself and "write my own" job description. I've been the Marketing Manager of this company for about 7 months. Already received 1 raise.

Much of the work in my "new" job description, I've already been doing. My currently salary is $70K. New title is Director of Communications and Systems Integration. What is a reasonable salary increase here.

I have about 7 years experience in this area.

From what I understand, ethics is separate from legal. Legal violations have consequences, ethical violations don’t. What’s the point of ethics if there are no consequences? Sure when it’s convenient to be ethnical, everyone will be. It only matters when it’s not convenient. So should there be ethics set up with consequences like loss of job that applies evenly for everyone in the company including the CEO? Should their be financial consequences set up for smaller violations?

I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
