I recently made the jump to AAS and currently staffed on a IPO project. AAS also helps company’s with bankruptcies, M&A transactions, and SEC reporting.
Yes, I made the jump from audit. I like it so far because I know I’’m expanding my knowledge and skills beyond auditing. Audit definitely has a more predictable work schedule, such as, planning, quarters, interim testing, control testing, and year end testing. AAS is project oriented and it depends on the needs on the client what services we proved. AAS at KPMG is broken into 6 service lines and most people explore like 3 of them.

I’ve a done a couple of rotations with AAS. Projects were related to implementation of new accounting policy ie 606 & 842. Another project was related to revenue recognition, specifically to incoterms
It’s strongly research / technical based, and assisting companies in preparing for and implementing new standards. Would say less travel than FDD in Deals but not for certain on that one.
M2 in AAS, former auditor at EY, made the switch and have tried to pull as many along with me, I would be happy to chat. Both answers above touch on a portion of what the group does, but there are a wide range of service line offerings so is difficult to say these few things are typical for what you could expect your experience to be.
Director with KPMG AAS. Happy to give more details; feel free to DM
