I just got mine a few weeks ago, looking forward to using the points on the dining experiences they offer as well as some of their travel packages.

From what I’ve read Hyatt’s the best transfer partner. 1:1
Have you ever taken a flight…?
Don’t even need to do AA points can just convert to 1.5 cents per point
Doesn’t the pay yourself back give the same return % right now?
Chief
I figured the points must be worth something more than the pay yourself so I figured to bank them instead? Lol I don’t need the money
I fall into a pit of trying to maximize point value, to the point of never using them...
TPG tells me I'm a fool if I don't transfer my Amex points to Airline A in order to book a trans-Atlantic business flight on Airline B via codeshare (at pennies to the dollar!), but contrary to what I thought as an analyst that applied for the card I am not in a position where I can spend much time on airline websites for a Europe vacation that I can't find time to take
Most of the AMEX redemptions are so bad I end up not spending them either.

I usually use the points on lodging when I go places that don’t have Marriotts. Went to a wedding in rural Texas last month and booked the B&B via the travel portal in points.

Good idea!
That’s $2K cash back that you can invest.
That’s $3K in Flights.
That’s $3K in money to pay off your credit cards.
You pay $500 a year for that card and don’t reap the rewards? Grow up 🤣

I invest heavily, don’t care to come out of pocket for flights and vacations, don’t have credit card debt. I just see points as fun play money but it’s not actually anything that’s too beneficial.

I have 200k points and I’m about to buy a ticket to Australia and NZ to spend 3 weeks abroad next December
A) If borders do open that is
B) if you plan to do work do consult with your HR cause your company might face tax implications
Yes, 300k and I dunno what to do with them.

Same here, I’ve got like $1000 in cash back on my Amex lol. Telling myself I’ll use that for the new Xbox, but I haven’t been able to get one 😢
I haven’t paid for a personal flight since I got mine
Chief
Nice!
Convert then to cash if you don’t know what to use them on
Chief
But I don’t need the cash and I figure the points will be worth it for something?
See if you can turn it into cashback and send some my way. Could use some extra $$$
You should redeem them for hotels and/or flights where you don’t have relevant points. Redemption rate is good and you have far more flexibility to stay at boutique hotels, fly to destinations your main airline isn’t as good for, etc
Just use it to pay off your groceries. They increased the value of points redemption on groceries by 25% when Covid started.

Use it on a First class flight somewhere really nice.
Saving it to book nice hotels for my honeymoon 🤑
You can go out to a dinner you otherwise wouldn’t have and use points to credit the charge. Same exchange rate on using points for flight and hotel ($.015)
Moral of the story: get a credit card that aligns to your lifestyle.
If you aren’t in the position to leverage points/ maximize too, cash back may be a better option for you.
Indulge on an international first class trip somewhere on a partner airline since US carriers can't do luxury hospitality at all.
