Anyone else? Lol. We were short staffed before covid but it’s definitely gotten worse the last couple years. Little to no staff underneath or everyone gets pulled for something else and then I’m prepping my own returns. Which is fine but don’t come yelling at me about the final WIP for manager to prep.

I think senior leadership are actually loving this as they’ll now use this as an excuse to push more work overseas where it is cheaper to be prepared etc

You’ll end up like the U.K. eventually, everything prepared by the team in India, then reviewed in team and sent back to India for changes to be made. If you are extra lucky you’ll have it like the U.K. where some teams have the teams in India prepare, review and release returns and the U.K. teams do not even look at the returns anymore and focus more on consulting.

The problem is the culture of PA and people do not want to endure it for the path to partnership. Until that happens, expect to be understaffed for years to come.

It’s all about those billables. It’s interesting talking with friends with completely different jobs after things started opening up and them talking about logging on but then making their kids breakfast, taking them to daycare, grabbing a shower before going to pick up the kids but still logging off at normal time. Basically a job where as long as you’re online it counts towards your day. No, that’s absolutely not a thing in this profession. Gotta hit those target hours.

AMA: International Travel (US to Europe) During Coronavirus! I found very little info on this topic before my trip and had a bunch of questions which I wish someone could have helped with. Now, a friend and I both traveled US to Europe in the last week, different routes, in Econ/Biz. For anyone else looking to do the same, I’m happy to answer anything about the process - check in, flights, mask usage, security, visa checks, airports, social distancing, etc.

Hi all,
I graduated during Covid with a double major in business administration and business management with a minor in marketing and magically ended up in sales because I needed a job. I’m about to take a data analytics course to make an attempt to break into that field. I’m currently looking for a mentor to help guide me during this time. Also, if anyone is willing to look over my resume and give me tips on how to make it more presentable for recruiters in DA that would be very helpful. Thanks

So… 3.5 year relationship came crashing in Jan due to covid depression, work burn out, lockdown etc. We have stayed in contact and recently he has come around to apologizing and considering getting back together. However he also revealed he started seeing someone casually 4 weeks ago and technically is cheating on her by meeting me for coffee and to discuss this. I’m upset that he’s dating others but shouldn’t be right? I mean, I did the same. Still hurts though. And I told him to sort that out

Last year when Covid broke, I received a couple of interview calls but ignored them as I felt the organization kept me at work when other companies cut short their HR staff so I should be with them even if with no appraisal. But now, I was living in the fool's paradise when I am told to leave with no job offers in hand, car and home loan, dependent parents, expecting jobless spouse with a 3-year old kid.

After 5 years of freelancing (which I have loved) I am considering a full-time gig. Although COVID is in the back of my mind, this is more about what I’ve been lacking since FL: consistent team, seeing an idea all the way through, challenging myself to grow, being exposed to latest tech trends to better my ideas... I know I can always go back to FL if FT doesn’t work out, but curious where others’ heads are at these days. Am I crazy to consider going back to the golden shackles?

Has anyone had roommates who got sick with Covid and they managed to not catch it from them? If so, what precautions did you take? We have a good relationship and so far he’s been staying in his room and using a mask whenever he needs to use the restroom or grab water from the kitchen. I am the only one who touches the fridge and takes his food out so he can eat. What else can we really do?

5 year call. 1850 hours. 10%.

Question for my friend at KPMG. Her MDs and Partners have been directing her to eat her hours. If she charges over 45 hours she will get emails from management and when she charges over 65 she got a call from a PPMD. It doesn’t seem right that she’s having to eat those hours and feel scared when she’s working til 10/12 every night.
