Anyone else love being single and living alone? Feel like ppl think it's lonely, but one of my fave things to do in the weekend is watch tv in my PJs sipping coffee (or beer, depending on time of day)

I'm married and on Saturdays I sleep in, move from bed to couch to watch college football in my PJs, and my husband brings me a hot cup of coffee and a fresh plate of brunch. Being married doesn't have to be bad.

I'm married and I sit on the couch in by boxer briefs watching football/soccer while drinking disaronno. It's all about finding the right one!

Glad I'm not alone D2! My wife and I rolled out of bed around 9:30 this morning. I walked to the couch still in my underwear and turned on a soccer game while she made breakfast for me. I'll make dinner tonight to make it fair though :)

Right there with ya OP. It's only lonely if you make it lonely. Cheers 🍻

Obviously you're in your early-mid 20s

I love being married but I totally enjoyed being single back in the day. Never worried about not meeting the right one - I always knew he was it there somewhere and that I'll find him someday somehow. Spent my 20s drinking, smoking up, stretching out, sleeping around (within safe reason) and generally enjoying it. Don't let the good times pass you by my people. 20s can be great fun!

like

I really like doing that too. And that's been my weekend since the last two weeks because I'm so exhausted from all the travel.

D1, D2 - have fun and enjoy. Soon you will have kids. Ironically, that will be after having fun.

Single more meaning unmarried

SA1: Haha, you caught me.
D1: You're a lucky one. Although even then there might be conversation every now and then... Sometimes I just want to talk to my friends on FB haha!

Agreed, especially after all the people on close quarters we deal with on flights, it's nice to stretch out and not have to share my space

*Out there

@D1 Yep, sounds like we found the good ones!

Has anyone quit their job because of a relationship? I started my job 3 months ago and now my employer wants me to move to NY. The thing is, I fell in love during the pandemic with a friend that I have known for 3 years. It's frustrating since I know I could continue my job from home. I would honestly quit my job and wouldn't mind the job search again.

So recently my SO has been accusing me of being in control of when we are intimate (sex and cuddling). She says that every time she wants to I say no - and whenever I want to - she says yes. So it's by default doing whatever I want when I want. It's a gross exaggeration of what's happening - but does anyone ever deal with something like this? How do you say no to something like that - without your partner thinking you're just looking out for yourself or you're controlling?

I’m hoping to steer clear of any scams by posting & I know it’s been posted before but, again, scams. Anyway, I am looking for something that can be done remotely on nights and weekends after I get home from my daily in-office job. My sister passed away & I’m now helping raise her kids. With Christmas coming, I’m nervous and dreading the season not only to not have her but will I make it a happy one for the kids. I need extra income but need to be home with them in the evenings.

Stupid Question- We have been thinking for IVF and trying to understand with this process, is there any difference in the health and life of the child as compared to a child born without IVF. I did ask this with our doctor and he said casually its all same. This is not to question any doctor but just to really understand what is going to be different with the kid. This is not very old technology and not much studies as well.

Does anyone have family members who constantly demand money because they feel like you’re rich now because you’re a lawyer? I’ve always wanted to be in a position to help my family but we all live in the high COL city so my salary doesn’t carry me as far as it would elsewhere. I’ve given a detailed summary of all of my expenses yet every month one family member in particular comes to me for rent money (not some, the full amount, and they refuse to get a job). It has become quite the burden.

Asking for a friend - anyone staying in a marriage just for the kid(s)?

It's not like the marriage is terrible or unhealthy, but they would take an out if not for having had the kids.

Anyone else experience this? I'm wondering how common this is.

How do you handle people’s kids showing up on video meetings? Screaming, kicking, hamming it up, (wasting time.) Everyone else is coo-ing…I’m not a kids person. Heard a technique which is to drop off the call bc you “assume the call is over” (which seems like a great way to get fired especially if it’s a way higher up’s kids - plus it feels rather passive aggressive.) Thoughts?

Hadn’t noticed this sub before, and most of the threads are old so thought I’d ask a follow up - how has everyone been handling parenting with public accounting? I’ve got a toddler and my wife is an accountant (industry), and we only have a few immediate family in the country- but they have health concerns. Busy season was rough, things are looking better now as things return to normal. Still working crazy hours if you count the daycare duties on top of utilization targets.

Anyone here adopt a puppy during the infertility struggle? Husband and I considering it to have something positive throughout this situation and thinking the extra companionship would be helpful. I work from home. Husband has had many family dogs and lots of experience with it, I’ve had a family cat before. But not sure if it’s actually a good idea - wondering if it would truly help make us feel better and keep our minds off of the struggles or if it would just add extra stress. Thoughts?

Everyone who I want to like me or to hangout with doesn’t respond to my texts or tells me they are too busy. This weekend I reached out to 12 people to see if they wanted to grab coffee or a drink or go for a walk. The number of people who just didn’t respond astounded me. I ended up eating dinner in bed by myself and getting brunch on my own.

The only people who reach out to me, I don’t want to hangout with. I don’t have the same interests as them and have to try really hard… cont below

Currently have a 5th grade girl who is struggling with classroom behaviors and choices. When questioned, she says she wants to be a boy, but her parents won’t allow it. Obviously, she is struggling with more than making good choices at school. Her parents are very kind and appreciative of all we do for their child, but they are also clearly struggling with this. Anyone ever been in a similar situation or have some advice on how we can best support the student?
