Anyone ever get a job offer at a new company and tell their current boss before accepting/leaving?

No, I only let people know once all paperwork (background check too) is complete.

You don't wanna do that unless it's confirmed.

Agree with account manager 1 above - if you bring up the presence of another offer or job, you have to be prepared to leave at that moment. Note, most offer acceptances are non-binding either way, so you can always accept, tell your manager, they raise you or do something to get you to say, then you can decline the accepted offer with no skin off your back (other than maybe some bad feelings with the team you accepted)

Why would you do this?

In my opinion, before embarking on such a situation, look at the current money situation and decide accordingly

I don't say anything until the offer is in writing and everything is signed.

I think it's pretty self-explanatory but that is not a smart thing to do at all!

I know I’m underpaid where I am currently and random glassdoor salary range research is less real than real job offers. I know my manager wants to keep me and would give me a raise, but I want to convince them what market rate actually is for me. I might be convinced to stay where I am if I got a comparable pay raise, if moving companies is mostly for the money. But yeah its prob just time to go…

No I'm too paranoid that it'll fall through. I don't say a word until everything is done and dusted

My boyfriend of 3 years makes about 2.5x my salary (I also have student loans and he doesn’t). He thinks we should continue splitting expenses 50/50 (rent, groceries, date nights, etc). This is someone I plan on marrying, and I’m financially savvy but feel like I’m SO behind with my means/money goals compared to where he’s at. Curious to know how others approach shared expenses with their SOs? I’ve gotten a lot of mixed advice on this from friends and would love to hear more opinions.

Hello everyone, From your experience, should I apply to entry-level strategy consulting positions in Paris (my hometown) or in Dubaï? Background: master in management/finance from an international/target uni with previous tier 1-2 M&A experiences. I am considering starting in the UAE because of the following elements: -significantly higher net pay -better chances to get into top firms? -better WLB? -more international & meritocratic What are your thoughts? Many thanks for your insights!

A gentleman whom I've worked with for two years (at same title) came back to the agency today after a 8 month absence at different agency. He not only got handed a huge account, but he is now AD (skipped Supervisor!) I know he's good, but he's not THAT good! My review is coming up and I've been working hard to get a Supervisor promotion. I want to bring it up so bad in my review, but know I shouldn't. I hate that he played the "game" and won at it. Just grumbling...
