I know a few people who have done this. It really depends on if the agency needs to slim down and if there is someone who can easily take on your work. It has to be a win/win. Also you have to be in good standing and valued. Otherwise they may say no and then work toward building a case for letting you go for cause.
If you have a good HR person, meet with them and discuss the possibility of volunteering to be downsized with a separation package. Ask them to keep the discussion confidential.

the lack of opportunity/growth yet grueling demand (12-14hr days, several weekends all year) has negatively impacted my life, relationships, and overall well-being.
feeling trapped so at this point i’d rather unplug, move in with family, and regroup even if it leads to extended unemployment. seems better than the dark places this industry has taken me mentally. will mull over it and gameplan for as soft a landing as possible. 🫠
