Anyone ever heard of an associate attorney leaving practice to become a librarian (law or otherwise)? Random thought but seems like perhaps a good fit for me given a love of books, reading, and research.

Yep. My friend's wife does that. Law schools, state law libraries, and federal libraries all combine the things you love.

Yes! My college librarian was a former big-law associate and she tells her story all the time! She absolutely loves her librarian job.

Every time I go a library I grow a little more jealous of the librarians. Seems like such a peaceful and helpful career.

I’m currently half way through my MLIS program to transition from practicing law, to law librarianship. I love my program and it finally feels like a good fit! I’m excited to stop practicing and begin a new legal career. Let me know if you have any questions- I’m happy to chat. 🙂

Will an MBA set me apart? I have a BS in Marketing from top 15 undergraduate business program with a 3.8 gpa, 2 years work experience (3 by the time I’d enroll), and scored in the 63rd percentile on the gmat. This qualifies me for an average business school (ranked below ~50). My goal is to move into a management position within the next 5 years and eventually move into a director or c-suite role. At your companies, do most upper-level marketing employees have an MBA? Is it from a top school?
