Anyone ever took a less than desirable role in an industry you really wanted to be in with the plan to transfer internally to another more desirable role? How did it work out? In this case I would be coming in as a project manager with the goal of transferring over to the business ops or strategy side of the biz.

I received an offer from IBM Bangalore. However I saw openings at my preferred location Kochi only after the interviews. I called the HR after getting their point of contact mail and I asked if it's possible to switch. They said I'm already tagged to a project and that they'll check from their end if it can be done.

Anyone knows the chances of location being changed after receiving the offer and getting tagged to a project?
