Anyone exited law into a well paying second act? What’s your story? I’m 10 years into this career, went to a top 10 law school, top of class, spent a few years at a big firm, been in house for several years, make a good living…but I just haven’t enjoyed a single day of practicing law. True story. Can’t think of a day. The work is so mind-numbingly boring and yet also so consistently anxiety inducing. Seems daunting to spend the next 20+ years hating Monday-Friday, but tough to bail on good $$$

I’m in the same boat. I’m 8 years in but still at a firm. I have tried out a few firm sizes though (big, mid, boutique). I just have a feeling the grass won’t be greener in house, except for not having to bill. I’m just commenting in the event you get some good responses!

I’ll second that if you’ve only ever been at a firm and you’re not enjoying things and considering exiting law, you should definitely try in house first. I don’t enjoy it, like I said, and I’m still both anxious and bored every single day, but I’m far, far less miserable than I was at the firm. If firms were the only way to practice law, I’d have exited the profession a long time ago irrespective of pay. No amount of money is worth wanting to jump out your window every day (me, from 2015-2019).

I have an offer from MindTree. DoJ was 21 Sep but was not getting relieving from current company. Hence requested to give a revised DoJ (1month extension). Does the offer/salary also need to be revised. My current company is offering me a retention hike thats not close to MindTree offer. However, there are no documents and they will revise it internally in the system. How can I prove this to MindTree?

What is the avg and max CTC one can expect with total 7 YOE in IT operations (support) with last 3 years as a Senior Analyst/Team Lead?

I want to make a switch into the Consulting domain. I'm somewhat of a quasi-consultant in my current role, I like the Consultant job profile and feel I'm capable of doing well in this field. Also want to work at 1 of the Big 4 🙂. What are my chances - is it even possible for me to switch? How much hike can I expect?

Current CTC is 11L. B.Tech grad

Last associates committee meeting is coming up. Partners have asked each associate to come up with... not one... but FIVE marketing ideas. Other than reeling out “we offer competitive pay” in job postings, what are some good ones your firm does?

I’m struggling a bit. If I knew how to market well, I certainly wouldn’t be in this position.

What do you do when you feel the goalpost has been/is being moved re: billable requirements? Like there's a spoken vs unspoken? I chose this job based on billables vs salary and what I'm being told I'm expected to do now is 20-30% (at least) > than what was initially agreed upon. Given my other life responsibilities, this is creating a huge strain & I feel like this is slowly getting harder & harder on my spouse & kids. I'm grateful to have lots of good work but not sure how to course correct.
