I don’t know what the market trends are but would advice Mgr level accept nothing less than 30 lacs per annum. Metros are very expensive, I’d say simple pleasures like watching a movie or eating out cost more in Bombay, Bangalore or Delhi on a relative basis compared to the US. Very hard to maintain a decent standard of living, and saving some money in India unless package not above 30. My 2 cents.
EY- are you serious why do you think people stay in us if they can make 60 lacs in India as managers ? How can they give 60 lacs to a manager where Offshore manager billing rates are around $50 ? Apply simple analysis bro..
@kpmg1- There is no point comparing apples to oranges
Tc1 : 21 as consultant ... ha ha rofl ...
I guess USI may stretch up to 24-28, saying this based on one of my discussion with an D SM few weeks back.
Manager is 12-15 year in IT? It would 17-22 Lac. Add 2-5 Lac for niche skills. Very unlikely to touch 30..Unless it's a smaller company trying to wean an big 4 resource for showcasing...

^TC1- every company sticks to a cohort model. Whether it is IIM-A or any other Tier 1 college, they all get paid the same.
It is often a hype in India that salary depends on the college name.
In addition, no company would pay any fresher 20 lpa fresh out of college. Just think of it - why would you pay 20 lpa to a person with just theoretical knowledge and no real "experience"?
SC OP - Not everyone from IIMA gets 20 lpa or above. Salaries start from 8-10 lpa for freshers with no prior experience.
Only the few ones who have got "relevant" work exp (3-4 years) get paid around 20 lpa.
What nobody tells is..some offers are offshore (outside India) jobs which pay more that pushes the average to more than 20 lpa. That's true for all Indian B-schools. They are just a hype, nothing else.
And as far as Big 4 firms are concerned, no one pays more than 20 lpa as base to a Manager. To be real, Manager in PwC India Kolkata is paid 16 lpa as base (not adding the perks).
Total compensation exceeds 20 when you add the perks.
Total compensation also fluctuates in different cities taking into account the cost of living.
Hope this helps.
Thanks C1, just curious, where did you get these ranges from? Do you know people personally?
Following
Me too
Thanks SM1, you think USI pays?
Assuming you are D
SM1 - are you saying deloitte India pays that for a manager or Deloitte US Offshore pays that ? I guess that’s a little high expectation for a manager in US Offshore
AI -e.g. artificial intelligence?
Yup
Cant even make half of what we do in the US?
