Get a professional inspection. You should be doing this for any house you're under contract on anyway.
Yes, will definitely be getting an inspection and any offer would be conditional.
What’s the age of the house? (Asbestos?)
Check the AC/Heater. Test that they function as expected. Look at the plumbing. Let the sinks run for a few minutes while you are there.
Exposed wood? Poke it with a screw driver. Check for termites. (YouTube how to if you don’t know)
Does is smell like cigarettes or smoke? Electrical fire, prior smokers, ect
Buy an outlet tester.
Look at the breaker box, see if it looks OKAY
I can keep going…
Thank you!!!
Are you trying to buy a house way below market? I'd be cautious as there could be severe issues with the home and someone is trying to sell "as is"
My province just began open bidding, so I'm curious if there is actually something wrong with the house or if they are just attempting to have a bidding war. Similar size house 2 streets over just sold for $700k for context, and this one is listed at $500k.
Get an inspection of it. If you suspect that the house is below market price then it is for a reason. They know something is wrong with the house even if they don't list it.
Sounds suspect. What's the history on the house? Make sure you hire a reputable inspector who can go in and make sure there is nothing major going on with the house. Are you working with a realtor? I'd be curious as to what your realtor has to say. Good luck.
