Jeff Friedman is very well known in state tax. Being in the same office as him and therefore potentially benefitting from his mentorship seems like a major pro for Eversheds. Think I’ve heard he sleeps with clients though so maybe pick and choose what advice to follow.

funny

It is true that Jeff works there but the other comments are unwarranted.

Can speak to Eversheds tax more generally, but I'm not in the controversy group.

what kind of tax do you do?

Previously worked with Jeff Friedman - he's definitely on the Mount Rushmore of SALT. Never heard those rumors about him and I doubt they're true. Not that kind of guy. He's a professor and tax lawyer.

who else is on the mount rushmore of SALT

His messages show he still doesn’t know what he wants. Yet, if I am totally honest, I hate how part of me wishes he would do a grand gesture/finally decide to be a better man. It’s delusional. It’s crazy how love can be so rosy, sweet & blinding that the red flags seem surmountable.

Would love to hear thoughts on best approach of you are a senior associate at V10 firm. Do you just become counsel until they tell you that partnership is not in the cards or do you try to hop to the first partnership (equity, or at least NEP with clear progression to equity if you bring in some business) opportunity at a say V50 firm. I’m not home grown at my current firm, but do have a small book currently.
