It's challenging in ways you don't anticipate.
We work hard. We play hard. And most of us fought hard to get in the door.
Culture and creative is a work in progress, but there are great change agents at the helm fighting to make us a force to be reckoned with.
We are looking for passionate, creative talent at many levels at Yellow Shoes: senior art directors, senior copywriters, senior designers, digital creative director, design director...and yes, interns. Looking for creatives with a passion for creativity, craft and storytelling that want to work for a Fortune 50 company that brings Disney, Marvel, Pixar and Star Wars stories to life in the Parks.
Ultimately we’re in the joy business and personally can’t think of anything the world needs more of right now.
Not looking for awards for awards sake or to feed the ego but smart, culture changing ideas. Is it hard to get great work out? Absolutely. But as Walt Disney said: it’s fun to do the impossible. However this is not the cushy client side. If you’re tenacious, smart, passionate, innovative, unflappable, positive, integrated and bring diversity of thought, we want to talk to you.
All I know is they’re demanding “award-winning” applicants but aren’t making award-winning work themselves
How hard is It to get into Yellow Shoes Creative (Disney)? Job posting has “awards” as a requirement...."

@walt Disney company 2. Whelp, I applied and didn’t hear a peep from anyone so guess we’ll never know if I’m tenacious, smart, passionate, innovative, unflappable, positive, integrated or bring diversity of thought. But I’m going to stay a Disney Parks megafan anyway! Truly believe the parks and resorts are the most wonderful places on earth — so keep sending me direct mail and I’ll keep clicking on your remarketing!
Yellow shoes is the parks and resorts arm, so know that's what you would be working on.
I had a similar question this past week. I’ve gone ahead and reached out to a few people. The overall feeling is that Yellow Shoes is very particular about who they hire. Being a Disney fan helps, but won’t exactly get your book at the top of the pile... It just feels cool to work somewhere you love.
They apparently only hire seniors and interns. Getting in there as a mid-level is very, very hard.
The account team is lacking and there’s a lot of politics. It’s more client side than agency focused.
Apparently it’s easier to get into LA offices and work your way to Orlando.
My guess, as a Disney nerd, is that with new hotels opening, Star Wars land coming, etc. etc. there’s probably a lot more work coming down the pipe.
I’ve been told the pay isn’t great.
If you have twinkle toes, you’re in.
@The Walt Disney Company...how did you get in the door? Any tips for a designer/art director?
Hard to get in the door, sure. But my qn is: what work has gotten out that door?
