I’m with Equitable. I really enjoy the flexibility. As long as you produce you can be your own boss. The downside is you have to build your own book of business which can be a slog.
I am also a FA at Equitable and echo the other comments above. Having worked with compliance but not in compliance I think a lot depends on the management at the complex and branch levels. I have a branch with great culture, and our compliance guy really enjoys it. But as with most places it's about your direct points of contact.
What’s your role at Merrill? Why are you leaving? Best of luck in your search.
Leaving due to a toxic work environment and although I get paid well by the team the firm pays me very little.
Rising Star
I would move just to get out of the CA role. You are very pigeonholed in that role for long term growth. In a previous life, I was an SM at Merrill and understand. You can try to ask your manager if they will allow you to get your 9/10 then leave after that.
We just had someone do this. I actually have multiple degrees and the role at one of the firms I listed above isn’t a ca role and I would be able to get a principal license!
One word: Fidelity!
What are the job titles? I don’t want to source clients at all. I wouldn’t mind working with existing clients on a team. I get paid well at ML by the team but not by the firm. We’ve been short staffed ever since I started and everyone is stretched thin. I don’t feel like I’m learning anything new. Some people like that but I need to be in a role where I’m able to grow and learn more skills.
Wfh is going to go away soon and management is not clear on the policies either. Whereas other firms are more direct. I will give up wfh for more money but the $$ isn’t going to come from the firm and I don’t want to sit around waiting when I can be learning new skills elsewhere.
I was at UBS for 5 years. Extremely toxic with bullying being the norm. I would avoid it - especially the London office.
Thank you! ML is very toxic even as a top performer they don’t care about you unless you make your manager look good.
What role are you considering at Schwab?
Investment Consultant or Financial Consultant Partner
Loooove it
I’m in financial crime prevention, and we’re hybrid. My management is fantastic, they’re super helpful and are ride or die for the team. Additional compensation…like bonuses? We always get them
Congratulations
