Anyone (high performer throughout their career) laid off for non-performance related reasons, have you seen a severe dent on your morale and mental health after the layoff? How are you coping with it?

Shit happens, that’s why you call it a career and not a job. I left a cushy Partnership seat at a big firm for my dream role at Lehman Brothers in 2008.....been hustling ever since.

I admire your positive attitude of embracing the hustle to chase your dream. Wishing you the best.

I got laid off after 9/11 since I was the newest person on the team. It was scary and tough but I ended up finding another job 7 weeks later. It all led to where I am today and gave me perspective I wouldn’t have had otherwise.

Keep your head up and try to stay positive. 🙌

Yes because usually you can hustle and get back out there, but because of uncertainty in the marketplace and because of specific personal circumstances that require me to be impressive in this window of time I’m not able to do enough to help myself. I feel cursed that a good personal opportunity coincided with a heavy professional one. Both will slip away.

I hear you 😢 I wish you the best, hope things turn around for you soon enough on every front. Stay strong.

Yeah but then I just thought fuck em, invested my severance, and kicked ass at my next job.

I loved it! I sold my stuff, backpacked and spent very little money, and only came back when the recession ended.

Has anyone successfully gotten their company to change their benefits? Our speciality pharmacy provided (Accredo) is so inept I’m repeatedly missing doses of my medication and routinely spending over an hour on the phone during work hours arguing with them. I work at a small company (40 people) and our insurance is blue cross Illinois (who contracts with Accredo for specialty pharmacy). Is there any way I could convince them to switch specialty pharmacy providers? Who would I even talk to?

Hello,

I am a newly hired cross Industry PDM employee and with the US federal reserve set to raise interest rates and slow down the economy, I had a question regarding layoffs. I assume layoffs are coming and I had a question regarding PDM employees during these. Are they usually the first to go since they are easier to get rid of? Or are they kept because they have less overhead and overall cheaper? I want to plan for my financial future but not sure how Deloitte usually handles PDM employees

Does anyone know of a brand (or agency) hiring director level employees in the influencer space (health and wellness brands preferred?) bonus karma points if it’s one you would truly recommend joining! thank you!

Ok, so I have a couple of offers, one kind of lackluster, for the County. The other is for a credit union-I left credit unions a few years ago to join a FinTech supporting credit unions)
I was laid off last month and have had a flurry of interviews…this credit union offer is my favorite so far, I do have another offer I’m waiting for from another tech company which has a much higher salary range, but nothing is written in stone.
Should I counter? The offer is $95k for a project manager.

Hi,

I'm looking for some advice.

I'm currently a commercial insurance broker working in Dublin, Ireland & I'm extremely interested in traveling abroad. Hoping to go to the US.

I have four years of experience in large firms, I'm fully certified in Ireland, I have a first class honours degree business degree, where I majored in Risk Management & Insurance.

Is it difficult to find a job as an expat, are there many barriers to entry & what states would be the best bet?

Thank you for your help.

PSA: Long hours, burnout, understaffing, and the health issues they precipitate are not anomalies that can be coached or organized away. They are inherent features of the PA firm work model and they exist by design. They are fundamental to the partner to employee pay differential and they aren’t going away because like chain mail schemes in the 90´s firms feed and rely in the naïveté of their mid tier employees. So take heed and be sure to self care this summer because October is coming.
