Hello people of San Diego! Would love to hear how y’all are affording to live here comfortably. Please state your company, position, TC, YOE, and do you have a side hustle? I’ll start - I’m an advisor in Wealth Management with TC of $70k, 3 YOE and no side hustle. Among other things, rent just jumped from $2500 to $3700 for 2 bedroom and areas were looking at. I’d like to “make it” here but if it means switching career to make money I’d like to get an idea to make the right job change.
I'm looking for work in pharmaceuticals or medical device industry anywhere in East Asia/SEA. I'm a qualified nurse. Anybody out there that could make a suggestion??

I am looking for another job, preferably in Dallas, Austin or San Antonio. What job boards do you use besides indeed or LinkedIn? Also once you start talking to employers and telling them you are moving from out of state, what did you say without scaring them away? What items did you negotiate?
Does anyone have an investment property in atl that theyre willing to sell or know of any good Facebook (or other social media) groups where I might find some being posted about?

How diverse is Portland really? Everyone talks about it like it's San Francisco in the 70's, but is it racially diverse or super white? Just wondering since my son is Black and I'd love for him to feel less alone. We're looking at moving in the summer time but are still checking things out. Real opinions please!
If I don’t have a reservation to El Yunque rainforest in San Juan, Puerto Rico, are tickets released same day or day before? Wondering if there are ways into the National Park - as the day’s I’m going are currently sold out- solo traveler
Any good ATL diner suggestions this time of day?
- fairly decent place to work (from someone who worked with the Vancouver and San Jose offices). never met a blue badger (permanent employee) who had awful things to say.
- Ashley Goodall (their SVP, Methods & Intelligence) co-authored a brilliant book on leadership and people management called “Nine Lies About Work” that makes me believe they can be an awesome place to work
- red badgers had low morale since they’re contract workers and can be terminated at any time
Recommendations for a cross-country moving company? I'm moving to San Francisco from Chicago soon and I know local/regional movers, but not ones who move from Chicago to SF. One quote I have now is $4600 for a 1bdr apartment. Does that price sound decent?
Hello! I'm here for a salary check.

Is my manager forcing me out?
In our 121 last we had a good discussion on creating a personal development plan, with the idea being I’d write down clear goals & action points to get from my current level to the next, and I’d provide weekly evidence of it. I prepped the doc accordingly, but instead of wanting to discuss it, he said I have 4 weeks to “turn things around” - without giving any new info on what I’ve done wrong - esp given I wrote my goals based on this same feedback from last week??
I started full time at an agency mid pandemic so have never once worked in the office. I find myself working 50+ hour weeks even from home. Everyone who says "I can't wait to be back at the office" - are they really serious? To tack on commute time and public transit anxiety, wake up at the crack of dawn. Will working from the office somehow decrease the work load and increase productivity? Genuinely curious who wants to go back and why.
What kind of work will I do at Google Brand Studio as a writer? Will I be making banner ads? Or doing higher level campaign work?

Looking at a move from big law to in-house. It’s a mostly lateral step in terms of base comp, but there’s a ton of value in terms of RSUs, and also I never have to bill my hours again. Talk me out of it…NOW.
Anyone on here dated multiple people at once? What's the best way to let someone know you don't wanna be exclusive? Feel like a dirtbag but also like not ready to get all serious.

I've been in practice for about a year at a high stakes plaintiffs litigation firm. I make $85/year, I'm in the office at 8 and leave around 5:30. I work occasionally on Saturdays. When we have something big coming up, I stay extra to get it done in time. I've never missed a deadline.
I had a meeting this week where the partners told me they questioned my commitment because they were working more hours than me.
Am I the problem here and should work more, or is it time to find a new job?

Looking for ideas on how to handle the following: 10 attorney firm. Founding partner in his 80s and still comes in. Lately, he has become abusive to staff, angry, and making office miserable. 3 paralegals have complained about his fits.
Not sure how to change/approach this. I’m a junior partner who gets stuck with the fallout, hiring if people leave, and my life is now being made to be miserable too.
This person is not involved in the day-to-day anymore so when they come in, it's chaos.
In your practice, do you object when defending a examination under oath? Or make some sort of statement at the beginning that you reserve the right to make objections at a later date should the insured decide to file suit? I’ve only done one of these before and it’s been a few years.
I’m at a small full service litigation firm. Over the last 1.5 years I’ve started doing PI work and have had a lot of success. I’m the only attorney at the firm who does this. My firm has said we could talk about growing my PI practice. Does anyone have a good resource for lead generation/marketing for an attorney in my position?

I just got an email that an old boss jumped off the building and committed suicide yesterday afternoon. He had a successful law practice and appeared (outwardly) to be fine. This triggered a lot of thoughts about how unhappy I have been my entire time in this profession, how unhappy everybody I’ve encountered has also been (against or working with), and how much more stressful and difficult it is grinding out a living every year practicing law. Suggestions for healthy ways to cope with stress?
Chicago attorneys: what is the base salary of a 3 year associate? What % of fee do they get on cases they bring in? Do they get paid any money on cases they’re working on but didn’t bring in? I know it varies, looking for info based on personal experience/knowledge.
