What would you choose & why?

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

If you join a Top 5 firm out of an MBA you come in @ $145K plus up to 25% bonus. A modest 8% raise for two years puts you at $169K. My guess is $175-200K would be expected depending on the company.
Charles Aris is the best source on this. They publish research on this exact topic. I recall seeing in one of their studies that many recent movers actually received increases
If you're going to industry you'll probably have to take a pay cut.
120K
That doesn't seem accurate....why would you go from ~160k (assuming you are about to be promoted) to 120k?
It all depends on your number of years of experience and what industry and role you go for. I know one Deloitte Manager who was making $130K+ in deloitte, went to GE at 120K but lots and lots of benefits.
Deloitte manager at 130k wouldn't be post-MBA though
No he was not. He joined the firm as BTA and became manager when he was 29.
Right I'm interested for salary with two years of post-MBA consulting experience
Thanks Chicago 1!
DFW, that seems a lot more accurate to me thanks
I know pre-MBA with 4-5 yrs experience getting 150k + bonus. I'd think you could get more depending on what industry you go to. This was pharma though
Yeah it seems like it varies. I went to M7 and got offered 130k from Apple out of school. I imagine you can get 150-180k if you have the right experience
What industry are you interested in and what service line are you coming from?
Yeah Charles aria publishes a great deck each year. Important too to look at total compensation - industry bonuses can be much higher and also should pay some stock too, which is taxed at capital gains rates. Signing bonuses can be quite high too.
