Anyone know of a good REIT company to apply to in NYC Metro area? I’m looking to get out of public and REIT is one of the paths I’m interested in pivoting into. TIA

Bonuses will be tight for next few years with commercial defaults and valuation drops… pick something big and diversified away from office RE.

Recruited for eisneramper reit summer 23. Seemed like a growing group with good people but went with another group instead

Go into advisory, you’ll definitely get that experience as an external consultant and make bank!

Talk to a headhunter. There are tons of REITs in the city and a couple MF shops too if that’s what you want.

Thoughts on PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP certs? I have approximately 9 years of HR exp and my bachelors and MBA. Been debating on whether or not I need to fulfill my urge to get a certification. Wanted to get some thoughts around whether you have a similar background and opted to or opted to not get their certification? Thanks!

Joined a new company in industry after being laid off from my last job after being there for only 5 months. My new gig is rough, no support network, my boss is not a very nice guy and I dread this new job every day (2 months in). Things aren’t going to be getting better and I’ve almost thrown my mouse at my wall out of frustration with the job/boss.

Is it too early to leave? Bad idea just go get up and quit? Planning on moving back home with my parents so I wouldn’t have to dip into savings

How did you get started in your career as an FA? I work in the home office and have been an assistant to an FA before. I have a network, I have ambition, I have credibility and connections at my firm..

So as a 30ish yo with a government/PE/tech background and CIPM/CIPP… I’m finding privacy work is just much easier and interesting than other kinds, but still pays plenty well.

Is it too late/inadvisable to go to law school to specifically aim for privacy work?

I just find some firms are unwilling to entertain the idea that anyone but a lawyer has anything relevant to contribute in this space…

How difficult do folks think it would be to transition? Any thoughts on staying within IBM and doing GBS va looking outside?

This might be a long shot but I'm looking for a volunteer who is trying to break into a federal career. Maybe a transitioning veteran, recent grad, or career-changer.

I'm pursuing my master career coaching cert and need to do a recorded 45-minute session. You don't have to be identified if you don't want to.

The single session is all I'm asking but could certainly turn into a longer lasting coaching relationship (at no cost), if you like.

Curious what career trajectory people think would be more lucrative in the future…DEI or Strategic Planning? I’m currently an OD consultant with an ICF coaching certification. Someone deep in the DEI ecosystem recently told me that I need to highlight being from Ukraine and make a kind of sob story out of it to get ahead. Companies like diversity of thought and people like underdogs, she said.

Sure, I've got plenty laundry I can air, but the entire suggestion made me uncomfortable. DEI programs don't care about people affected by war or white guys who grew up in sketchy areas, and purposely complaining 1-1 to win sympathy is just manipulative and gross.
